January 27, at the home of a daughter, Mrs. George Harris, alao of Culber son Route 1 Mrs. Clark was a native of CSerokee County, a daughter of the late Joshua and Sarah Stans berry Pack was a life-long resi dent of the county and was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church. Services were held Friday, Jan uary 29, at U a.m. in Mr. and Mrs. Harris' home. The Rev. William Johnson of ficiated, and burial was in the Clark family cemetery. Surviving in addition to Mrs. Harris are two other daughters, Mrs. Blanche Weaver of Belmont, and Mrs. Esta Elrod of Detroit; 19 grandchildren; an J 38 great grandchildren. Mc Clure, 65. of Akron, Ohio, were held in Akron Baptist Temple, Sat., Jan. 30. He was reared in Cherokee County, N. C-, near Unaka. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Sherman McClure. His mother is known as Mrs. J. T. Dockery of Murphy. He has retired from Firestone Rubber Company in May, 1959, where he had worked for many years. After moving to Akron, he helped organized the Akron Baptist Temple Church, which now has the largest adult Sunday School class in the world. Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Bessie Barton McClure of Akron; two sous. Clay and Charles of Akron; two daughters, Bonnie of{ the home, Mrs. Walter Coon and Mrs. Betty Bause; two brothers,! James A. RAYMOND HAYES Raymond Hayes, S3, of Route 3 died in a Murphy hospital at 2:10 p.m. Sunday after a long illness. He was born in Polk County, Tenn., and was the son of the late William and Cynthia Cole man Hayes. Mr. Hayes had lived in Cherokee County for many years. Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Nina N. Ray Orr, tim ber conservation supervisor for Champion Paper and Fibre Co., Canton, wbo recently was named chairman of the North Carolina Forest Industries Committee. The Tree Farm committee of graduate foresters administers the program of growing trees as a crop on private lands under the sponsorship of the North Carolina FIC. The North Carolina program is part of the American Tree Farm System, active in 47 states with more than 16.C00 Tree Farms and over 51 million acres of well managed timber lands enrolled. Launched in North Carolina in 1944, the industry-sponsored pro gram here now has 506 certified Tree Farms covering more than a million acres. Cooperating with the North Carolina committee are1 the Agrcultural Extension Ser vice and the North Carolina Di vision of Forestry.
