I First Baptist GA's Hold Mother-Daughter Banquet Ite GA's of the First Baptist Church held a Mother-Daughter Banquet Wednesday evening, Ma) 11. Thirty-three mothers, daugh ters and guests were present The toastmistress, Miss Sbeila Stiles, welcomed the mothers and guests, and then Sandra Murti shaw led the invocation. A sup per of ham and the trimmings was served by members of the Frankie Martin Circle. Mrs. J. Alton Morris gave a brief devo tional followed by Miss Adinah Brown with "A Tribute to Our Mothers " Mrs. W. T. Brown answered with "A Response From the Mothers ." ~ A duct was sung by Rosalie Hyde and Kenny Jane Davis They were accompanied by Rosalie on her ukelele Two skits were presented by other mem bers id the GA's. Ail them joined in songs dedicated to the moth ers closing with a benediction o( "Blest Be The Tie." Other GA's present were Totsie Headrick. Becky Jo Ray, Sheila Gossett. Peggy English. Shirley Jones. Carla Beth Stiles, Mary Arden Davis, Mildred Dockey and Sarah White. This was just a beginning to the gala, hilarious, mixed up, crazy day called "Fad Day" at Murphy High School last Friday, May 13. "Fad Day" sponsored by the Student Council was called a big suc cess. Band Booster Club Meets The Band Booster's Club met Monday night with Mrs. Francis Bourne, Jr. presideing. The accomplishments of the ^lub during the past school year nere reviewed. Band Day. which was held last ; October, the club collected over WOO from people of Murphy, to! :arry on the works of the band. With the money, a new bari :one saxaphotie, baritone horn, two settle drum heads, music stands ind a bass drum rack were pur rhased.
