Good attendance will be expected and required for 'scheduled training and meetings. Valid reasons for absence will be given the officer or officers, and in advance were poss'tne. Each member shall have a prescribed uniform, as selected by the members of ? U. WATERMELON WINNERS It must have token all four of these happy lads to get the watermelon off the bottom of the dooI. They all seem to be pleased with their accomplishment. Re covering the melon from the bottom of pool climaxed the 4th of July swimming meet. Swimming Meet Highlights Highlighting the events prior to the Wagon Train's arrival in Mur-j phy last Monday was the sli ming meet held at the Murphy 1 pool. Winners in the events were: 1 50 yard free style, lst-Lav. rente Beale. 2nd. Glen Beaver 3rd..; Ralph Andre. 50 yard free style, boy's. 13 and under, lstj Jerry Jordan. 2nd. Terry Hens'ey, 3d. Mike Jordan. In the Girls 50 yard style race Treaty Nugent came in first. Gretehen Brewer, and then Shielah Sneeri The 100 yard free style rate was won by Lawrence Deal. Don Carter placed second and, Ralph Andre third In ihe too yard relays the 'earn of Raloh Andie Ginger Smith, and Mike Jordan finished firs'. One meter diving was won by Jim Jordan. Fom swimming honors went to M'ke Sneed in the back stroke The Side stroke competition was I won by Mike Jordan EVANS WINS DODGE DART Mr. Jim Evans of Rt. 2, Murphy won the 1960 Dodge Dart given away Saturday, July 2, by the Mur phy Retail Merchants Association. Mr Evans is shown receiving the keys to the car from Wally Williams, president of the merchants' group A large crowd gathered on the square in Murphy for the drawing.
