Dr. and Mrs. Harry Hadley Schyde of New Haven, Conn., have been visiting relatives and friends in this sec tion for the past week. Dr. Shyde is Director o I Music Education in the public schools of New Haven. He is considered outstanding in the musical world having composed several songs and text book series for children and classrooms. Many people in Cherokee county own his albums of Gospel Favorites. Dr. Shyde has studied in America and abroad in Paris and Germany. He has appeared as guest soloist with many leading orchestras. Whi taker, National Commander of 81st Wildcat Division of World War I and II Veterans, met with Wavnesville Chamber of Com merce Friday. August S, to make plans for Wildcat reunion to be held in Waynesville, Sept, 30 October 2. This is the 43rd reunion and all Veterans of the Wildcat division ?f World War I and II and their wives are urged to attend. Andrews Square Dance Unit Performed Before 2,200 ANDREWS-The Andrews Ele mentary School Square Dance Team performed before an audi ence of some 2.200 on Saturday night, Aug. 6, in the Asheville City Auditorium. The occasion marked the final night of the 33rd annual Mountain Folk Music and Dance Festival. Bascom Lamarr Lunsford, originator and director of the festival, invited the team to ap pear on the program After appearing in the City Auditorium, the group was in vited to go to the George Van derbilt Hotel to dance for mem bers of the Gem and Mineral Association, whose exhibits were on display in the auditorium. The Andrews team entertained the "Rockbounds" in one of the hotel's dining rooms and then each child invited an adult to participate in the final square dance of the evening. A number of parents andj friends accompanied the group to Asheville. The team is directed by Mrs Lenna H. Mrs. Addie Mul key observed her 87th birthday Monday at the home ot her daughter, Mrs. Jane Gregory with whom she lives. Another daughter, Mrs. Mamie Lovingood of Stow, Ohio arrived during the day and her son Harve Mulkey who lives near by visited her, Two friends from Marble, Mrs. Vincent Hall and Mrs. Gertrude Walsh paid her a visit and Mrs Clara Sherill presented her with a large birthday cake. Mrs. Mulkey says she loves to cook but that reading is her most enjoyable hobby. Her daughters treasure scarfs and handmade pieces made by ber in past years^ She was married at the age of 17 to John Mulkey, who died May 1 1960. Her children include, Harve, Bunion, Frank, Fred, Lewis, Homer, Jane Gregory, Myrtle Lovingood, .Annie Mc Donald. and Mamie Lovingood.
