Young Harris College Begins
75th School Year Sept. 17
With Capacity Attendance
YOUNG HARRIS -Young Har
ris College's seventy-fifth
school year begins on Sep (em -
ber 17 when approximately 500
students, a capacity number
(or the past two years, will be
enrolled.
Dormitories will be open for
freshmen on Saturday, Septem-*
ber 17, and the following Monday'
will be devoted to orientation
and counseling.
Sophomore registration will
be held on Tuesday morning,
September 20. with the fresh
men registering in the after
noon and on Wednesday morn
ing. Classes will begin on the
afternoon of September 21.
, Students will be entering from
fifteen states witl the greatest
number coming from Georgia,
Florida, and North Carolina.
All dormitory spaces will be
filled to capacity.
In addition to thelarge enroll
ment, President C. R. Clegg
has announced the appointment
of five new faculty members
and two new associate adminis
trative officers. Two faculty
members, Dr. Robert P. And
ress and Miss Ondee Ravan,
are returning after leaves of
absence.
Walter B. Mathis, Jr., of
Modoc, S. C? who joined the
faculty during me summer ses
sion. will teach English and
French. He received his A. B.
degree from Tbfr Citadel and
his M. A. degree from Harvard
University.
Marquis E. Jones. Stuttgart.
Ark., will join the faculty as
band instructor, lie holds a
B. S. degree from Memphis
State University and an M. M.
degree from Florida State Uni
versity.
Sarah M. Stanley, Decatur,
(j?? has benn appointed as an
instructor in physical educat
ion. Miss Stanley received her
B. A. degree from Oglethorpe
University and her M.Ed. De
gree from the University of
Georgia.
William T, Stewart, Cook
ville, Tenn., will join the faculty
as an instructor in chemistry,
and Betty O. Weaver. Nashville,
Tenn., has been appointed as
an instructor in history. Mr.
Stewart received his B.S. de
gree from Arkansas State Col
lege and his M. A. degree from
Tennessee Polytechnic Institut
ion. Miss Weaver holds a B. A.
degree from George Peabody
College and is a candidate for
the M. A, degree from Vander
bilt University.

Ue Lu Davis of Gainesville.
Mrs. Rogers, a registered
nurse, lias been employed by
the 1'ublic Health Service for
a number of years. Both Mr.
and Mrs. Rogers are graduates
of Young Harris College.*
