Miss Brends Lindsay, dau ghter of Mr. and Mrs. Charlea Lindsay of Black Mountain, has been announced by the Junior Chamber of Commerce as a candidate for the title of Miss Ashevllle. The pageant will be ? held September 3 in the city auditorium. Linda was recendy honored as the 1960 Buncombe County Dairy Princess. She will present a dance roudne, in cluding baton twirling during | the talent pordon of the pageant. - She is the niece of Mrs. John 1 Love and spends much of her ! time in Andrews. i Mr. and Mrs. Connie E. Adora and Vir ginia were roommates this year at Western Carolina College. Approximately 10 members of the First Baptist Church attended the annual Sunday School picnic at the Berkshire Picnic area Wednesday even ing at 5:30 p.m. Devotional* were given by Linda and Ma rilyn Ellis. Many games, In cluding softbell and basketball, were enjoyed by the group. Miss Sandra Frankiln was a guest of her grandmother, Mrs. J, H. Wilson, of Bryson City this past week. "Rrry Postell and Jim Bris tol left Sunday for Banner Elk, N. C. They will enroll at Lees McRae College and be room mates there this year. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Beam of Gaseonia are spending sev eral weeks in Andrews. Mr. Beam is a Wildlife Protector Trainee. Mrs. Beam will return toGastonia in two weeks where she will teach in Gastonla High School. Guests of Mr?. Mr. and Mrs. Gene Collett have returned to Atlanta after visiting relatives in Knoxvllle and Andrews. While In Andrews, Mr. Collett's father, Jesa Col lett, who has been staying at Oteen Hospital spent the week with them at the home. Clib Piaas Fair Project ANDREWS - The August meeting of the Valley town Home Demonstration Club met Wed nesday, August 24 at 2 p.m. at the home of Mrs. Cliff Richard son. Mrs. E, U. Burch, H resident, lead the groiv in prayer and presided over business session. Miss Thelma Wheeler gave a demonstration on slipcovers, showing many designs of mat erial suitable for different rooms of the home.
