Town son celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on Wed nesday evening, November 16. Mrs. Townson is the for mer Miss Winnie Sneed, \ daughter of the late R. H. and Emallne Cooper Sneed and was born and reared in Murphy. The marriage took place on Wedneeday. 1910. In Murphy, and Mr; Townson recalled that the day was pretty much the seme kind of day as this year with showers. Flower arrangements of yellow, gold, and bronze were used extensively throughout the home. The dining table was covereo wiin an importea i men ?nd lace cloth over gold. Bronze candleholders held yellow candles and a three tiered wedding cake was top ped with a mi nature bride and groom. Yellow mums were used on the buffet and serving table. Mrs. D. L. Wells, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Townson received at large. Mr. and Mrs. Townson have two children, Mrs. D.L.Wells Jr.. o t Wallace andWUliamO. Townson, Jr.. of Edenton.Two other sons, Wayne andClyde, are deceased. They have eight grandchildren. Woman's Club Met Thursday Evening The Murphy Woman's Club met Thursday evening in tha Murphy Electric Power Board Building. Mrs. Ollie MeSwain, presi dent, presided over the meet ing. During business, it was decided to enter a float In the Christmas parade. Miss Fannie "McClelland of the John C. Campbell Folk School talked on Christmas decorations. She also showed how some of the decorations were made. Hostesses for the meeting. Mrs. R. T. Houts, Jr., and Mrs. Helen Hilton, served re freshments to the fifteen members present. Mr?. Mashburn Honored With Stork Shower Mrs. Hobart Mashburn en tertained with ? stork shower at her home on last Thursday evening, November 10, honor ing Mrs. Nancy Mashburn. The home was -decorated throughout with autumn flow ers. The dining table was covered with a white damask cloth and centered with a punch bowl.
