The groom is the son of Mr. Moaten Anderson of Murphy, and Mrs. Ada , Robinson of High Shoals. N.C. High Shoals Baptist Church ? was the scene of the occasion and the Rev. Charles D. Ingle ? performed the double-ring ceremony before the altar, which featured an arrange ? ment of white gladioli, snap dragons, and gypsophlla, ' centered against a background of palms and organ ferns in terspersed with spiral candel ? abra set with white tapers. A satin covered prayer bench ? completed the altar deco , rations. A program of music was . presented by organist, Mrs. Dot Griffin of Charlotte, and ? vocalist. Miss Helen Rice of High Shoals, who sang "Wherever Thou Goest", "Ay . Sweet Mysteries of Life,"' "Because" and "The Lord's f Prayer." t The bride was given In mar riage by her uncle, Mr. Willie I Z. Kinley of High Shoals. She wore a gown of importedPeau ' d' ange lace over peaude soie. , The pointed basque bodice was ( styled with a scalloped neck I ?? ? line traced with sequins and pearls . The lace skirt, accent ed with silk roses and sequins and pearl motifs was worn over multiple layers of net and extended into a full chapel train. She carried a prayer book, (which had been pre sented by the Y.W.A. of her church), showered with ste phanotis, lilies of the valley, and white orchids. Attendants of the bride wore cocktail - length dresses of amethyst peau de soie with modesty of purple velvet. They carried purple velvet muffs with purple orchids. They were: Maid of honor - Miss Jeane Moses of Charlotte; matron of honor - Mrs. Jack Hovis, sister of the bride; bridesmaids - Misses Sandi Caskey, Miss Phyllis Rice, Miss Laura MoGinnis, and Miss Penny Griffin. Flower girls were Misses Barbara Medlin and Teresa Foster. Ring bearer was War ren Beam. Serving his step-brother as best man was Mr. DennisSte zer of Llncolnton, N. C. Ush ers were: Jack Hovis, Don Sullivan, Richard O'Dell. Car roll Robinson, Reggie Heaven er, and Joe Pope. The third Sunday evening singing of Cherokee County was held at Upper Peachtree Baptist Church on Sunday evening. Miss Inez Moore who is em ployed in Atlanta, visited her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Mason Moore. Sixth Grade Class Gaits Kro wl edge Prow Talks, Films Mr. Ben Warner showed Miss Ella Faye Byers' 6th Grade Class some informat ive and educational slides of European places which he and his family had visited while Mr. Warner was employed in Iran. The group has completed a unit in conservation. As a " climax, Mr. John Smith of the ? Soil Conservation Service ? came to the school, showed . slides and pictures, and talk ed on soil conservation. Mrs. Emily Davidson, the school librarian, explained the Dewey Decimal System In a colorful and vivid story fornu an orchid corsage. On Saturday, Feb. 11, a cake cutting was held In the fellow ship hall of High Shoals Bap tist Church. The bride's table was spread with white taffeta with an overlay of white ruf fled net and was caught 14) at each corner with wedding bells accented with gypsophila and ferns. An arrangement of white snapdragons was used in the center and on either side, silver candelabra were set with white tapers. At op posite ends of the board were silver punch bowls and three tier pale green wedding cakes decorated with white lilies of the valley, roses and minature bride and groom. For the oc casion, Miss Weatherford wore an emerald green velvet dress with silver accessories and a corsage of white gla melia. Favors were given to members of the wedding party and special guests. The bride, who Is a grad uate of Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing, is associat ed with Gaston Memorial Hospital, Gastonia. The bridegroom, who is a graduate of Lincolnmn High School and has spent 3 years in the Army is an associate of Gulf Life Insurance Com pany also In Gastonia. Murphy, celebrated hit 82nd birthday, Sunday, February 19, He has lived in Hanging Dog (or 71 years. Hit home was purchased from (he Indians and he can remember much of the history of Cherokee County. Murphy Woman's Club Has Guest Speakers Mr. Roscoe Moore, land scape architect with North Carolina National Forest, and Mrs. Gerard Jacques, local forester, were the guest speakers for the regular meeting of Murphy Womans Club held in the Power Board Building. These speakers were Introduced by the Club president, Mrs. Holland Mc Swaln. Mrs. Jacques explainedthe part out National Forestplay In our country - outlining the resources they develop and conserve - these being water, timber, wildlife, forage, and recreation. She stressed the value of each and how they are developed and the impor tance they play in our own state alone. Mr. Moore had slides to illustrate his talk which dealt mainly with the recreational and beautification of our nat ural resources. Their interesting program made all members more ap preciative of the parks and their facilities and respect and admire the people who have them in charge. The business session fol lowed this worthwhile pro gram. After the business, delicious refreshments were served by the Club hostess.
