And la ten aay distinction be (MM w*|? *i?? wisdom and divine *1 adorn? Might ltnot be that all wi adorn la divine? Whan we read St. Luke 18:1-5 thaae questions begin to anawar themaelves. Thla story of the "unjust Judge," spoken by our Lord and recorded to us by St. Luke, la a delightful story In lta own right. It alii of a judge who had no respect for God, or love for his fellow man. Aa the story unfolds, we can almost aee his mind shaping the answers - "This woman has no money to give me for a bribe; and she has. no poli tical friends to give me a promotion in office: why ahould I bother: it is hard enough ID maks money as it is." But the woman Is both desperate for legal help, and is determined. So, day after day, she 1* present when the court opens, and at or near the head of the line. Finally (ha Judge sees daylight. He wants to get rid of a nuisance. So he gives her legal help. When she gets the legal help from the judge - that is when God's will is ac complished for her. Are you willing to be the number one nuisance in your community. That is the way, and the only way. things are accomplished in this world! People do not' get new hospi tals, new schools, new laws to look after the young, just by wanting them. They get these because some person was willing to be a number one nuisance, demanding them; then two, then five, then ten, then many, became number one nuisances de manding them. Then finally this world acts, and gives; and God's will In that par ticular Is accomplished. In this delightful story, our Lord has given you in full, the method whereby any and every good work In a community can be accomplished. Are you wil ling to be God'a agent? The real surprise in this, parable comes In St. Luke,' 18:1, when St. Luke, thinking of the parable to follow, says that men ought always to pray, and not to faint. Does this mean that God la an "unjust judge?" Par from It I It means that our prayers should pour to heaven continuously, and for a reason. You may want an automobile. If vou steal one, you can get quick action - but, If you take it to God in prayer, as did this woman In her plea, it will maybe take longer, but In the end, God may show you how to make a living and have money and you will h?ve the respect of your friends. Or you may be deeply disturbed for fear you are slowly losing that husband or wife. Divorce will get quick action - but prayer Ilka that of this woman, may be more slow, but In the end. Cod may sbow you how to remember birthdays, or how to cook eatable biscuits: and In the end you will have learn ed B company with God, and to have a happy home. God is always on your side - you get yourself on God's side, and watch how differently the wheels of this world will tuml When you sometimes get into a dreamy mood and start telling of what you would like to accomplish In this world, any person at all could very well answer by saying: "What ?it takes to get It, you've got It." That might not mean that you have the money in the bank, or that you have theI.Q, 160 in your head: but It does mean that every good ambit ion which you have can come to good affect. For prayer to God Is like a faucet, which will run when you turn it on. Pray and keep on praying, as this woman pleaded, and kept on pleading, and you will give to the love and the Intelligence which created the entire uni verse the o0t)ortunlty to spell out to you the answers to your prayer. And don't forget this: while yon are doing the little half of your answers, God is doing the big half. He is giv ing you a complete life to live, ? complete world In which to egress you abUitlea, and peo ple on every side who, through your prayers, can be the onea with whom you accomplish what cotuea next In eech ghaae of y&f prayers and Yaa, Ala world in which we life can indeed bean"unjuet Judge" over us. Many of God's gifts, like the air we breathe, are received without thought. Others, like the abundance of the harvest, we think about only in season. Still others, like our religious herit age, get varying degrees of attention and response according to our spiritual perception ... or the precariousness of our plight. This isn't Christmas ... or Easter. And we hope it is not a time of personal crisis for you and your family . . . If it's just a normal week, full of the routine of life ? then it's an ideal time to remember your blessings. And Sunday will be an ideal day to begin, renew or strengthen that whole some habit of worshipping God in the church of your choice. Copjriflit 1961, Keitter Adv. Service, Straaburf, V?.
