Being born again la obeying the commandments of Jesus mat He commanded for our past sins to be forgiven. Being born again is not a mystical something that Is Impossible to understand. Nlc odemaa did not understand and Jesus Implied that he should haye understood - John3:9-10. Jesus said a man must be born of water and of theSplrlt to enter the kingdom of God - Jn. 3:5. The Spirit does its work through the Word - the Bible. Jn. 6:63, Eph. 6:17. In 1 Peter 1:22-23 "Seeing ye have puri fied your souls In obeying the truth through the Spirit... Being born again, not of cor ruptible seed, but of Incor ruptible seed, by the word of God, which Uveth and a btdeth forever." Wben the word of God la taken Into your life and ti llered the new life Is begot ten. You are not born again til you obey, confessing the name of Jesus before men, repenting of your sins and Mag buried In baptism coming out of the water (Matt. 10:32 - Rom. 10:9-10 Rom. 6:3-4 - Acta 2:3t,22: 16 and 1 Peter 3:21). All these things wipe the old things away. But the most Important force In wiping away the old, now as when the New Testa ment was written. Is the Christian public, you your selves. For where ever men company with Christ, new things come to pass. Where Christ steps in. hospitals are built, and schools for the chil dren are built and staffed. And the fmltatlon of these things by non-Chrlsdan peo ple, hastens the change. When a non -Christian accepts a fal len one as an equal, be drops to the lower ones level. But when Christian "accepts the unacceptable", the other re ceives the love of God and Is lifted. So, you yourselves produce the most rapid change of all. And you do it by means of the spirit within. Each ol you must meet your own prob lems, so, our Lord says to each "but whatsoever shall be given you in that hour, that speak ye". God does not send us alone, he goes with us. And we are building the New Jerusalem. How do you cross the ocean, or navigate the sky. and arrive at the right point? You do it by means of a compass. Christ Is our compass. We live In a world of change, we are building the New Jerusa lem. So, in Christ, we make our living DIRECTIONAL, to ward heaven. By prayer, we draw near to Him. In prayer, we unite our wills to His pur pose. And if ever there is truth in the trite little sen tence, All's well that ends well, surely this truth is doubly true when we think of the end, and the salvation of each of our own lives. SUNDAY IS A HOLIDAY ?AND A HOLY DAY There U a deep gloom that sometimes enshrouds the human souL It comes silently, and usually without warning. Like an evening fog it seems to rise out of the marshes and imprison us in its chill tmitaclfni Men call it by many manes. To one it is UNCERTAINTY. To another, WORRY. To the most harassed, FEAR. But always it hides the brightness in life . . . and makes us /eel the surrounding shadows. NG THE SHADOWS There 1b a gleam of faith that ia capable of penetrating the gloom. It seems to leap time and space to unite the soul with God. Men call it PRAYER. And whether in the quiet of meditation, or in the thrilling unison of a congregation at worship, it pierces life's shadows. It lights our next step!
