Holland Merin tendant of Murphy Schools, was guest speaker. Mr. Mc Swain, who has just return ed from Raleigh), gave a first hand report on the United Forces for Education that presented its hearing before the legislature last week. Mr. McSwain also gave the high lights of Governor Sanford's educational program, by which he hopes to have "North Carolina second to none." Mr. McSwain also told the Club members the increase would affect the Cherokee County Schools and how it would broaden the school program here. Following this talk, the Womans Club went on record as endorsing the United Forces for Education Pro gram. Following the program, Mrs. R. T. Houts, local fund chairman for the Cancer Society, gave a report on re organization of the Cancer Society for this County. The Club is to help with this pro gram. Mrs. Ruth Sprung gave a report on her work with the Girl Scouts.
