THAT
White pines make beautiful
Christmas trees If they are
properly "sheared-? Fred
and Douglas Smith, and Georg
Bldstrup of Brasstown are
growing several different
kinds of Christmas trees on
their places. Later they will
have a shearing demonstra
tion, given by a forestry spec
ialist, Leonard Hampton.
Watch for the announcement.
If you are interested In
shaping any of the trees you
have on your home grounds.
THAT
Many fc.ks are still waiting
to see If someone else cleans
ifi before they start on the
roadside In front of their pro
perty - - - Why wait for
the other fellow? If YOU set
the example your neighbors
will follow suid It's worth a
try. Isn't It?
THAT
One of the prettiest sights
anywhere is the Roadside bank
of Thrift at the Burton Sale*
In Brasstownl There are many
others, but the growth and the
blooms are the most luxuriant
at the Sales that many of us
have ever seen.
THAT
The carving group, compo
sed of women from Murphy,
and one from Hayesvllle, com
pleted its first series. The
exhibit was presented for the
benefit of a meeting of the
Board of Directors of the Folk
School on Friday. The same
exhibit will be made later on
a Friday night, when there
is a community party. It Is
almost unbelievable that am
ateurs could turn out as many,
and as fine pieces of carving
and woodworking as these
folks did. They, and the in
structors, Mrs. Murrlal
Martin, and Jessie Ledford
are to be congratulated!
