I wished, first, that I might be given the gift of memory, so that I would never forget a child's point of view ? the importance of even the littlest promises, the oldest dolls, the small est nothings. I wished that I might be given the wisdom to care for Sue's body, mind, and soul. And I was deeply grateful that I had the Church to help me teach her right from wrong, and to aid me in endowing her with a rich measure of faith, of love, and of tolerance toward her fellow man.
