BONNIE McDOWELL ROBBINSV1LLE The charred remains of Mrs. Bon nie McDowell, 43, were found early Monday morning In the ruins of her trailer on the head of Panther Creek about 20 miles west of Robblnsville. Her husband, Howard S. McDowell, left Sunday after noon for Kentucky where he works with a construction company. Other survivors include the mother, Mrs. Paralee Rose of Robblnsville; one son. Bobby King of Spartanburg, S. C.; one sister, Mrs. Ger trude C abie of G rah am County: and four brothers, John Rose of Robblnsville, Oakley of Marlon, Wade of Llncolnton, and Cager of Graham County. Murphy High School Nominates Student Council Candidates Nominations for president and vice-president of the Student Council at Murphy High School were held last Friday, April 28, in the gym. Jerry Chambers, Randolph Cunningham, and Jerry Led ford are running for president. Frankie Beal and Billy Haney are running for vice -pres ident. The nominees for the pres idency must be In the rising senior class and those for the vice-presidency must be In the rising Junior or senior class. (Bob) Easley, Jr. of Murphy has formally announced his candidacy for District 31-A Governor of WNC Lions Clubs for the 1961-1962 club year beginning July 1. Easley seeks ? succeed F. Gudger Cabe of Candler as Governor of 37 clubs with some 1,600 members in 12 western mountain counties. His candidacy is subject to district voting at the annual state Lions Club convention at Greensboro June 1-3. The other announced candidate is William G. Davis of Bryson City.
