CHEROKEE COUNTY
TAX RATE SET
At the Regular May meeting of Commissioners, the tax rate for
year of 1961 was set at $1.72, this being an increase of 4 cents
to existing tax rate of $1.68. This Increase was made on the ac
count of the recent legislation increasing the salaries of the
clerk of the Superior Court, the Deputy Clerk, Register of Deeds,
end his assists*. The increase of ckxfcle the amount paid Jurors,
the triple increase of witnesses, also other climbing expenses of
the county.
We had hoped that we would be <*>le to serve our term out with
the rate of $1.69 but these added expenses made It impoesible to
do so.
