Former Resident Among Top Tor Alabama Womsi Mrs. Frank Morgan, the former Sara Ruth Posey of Murphy, was recently named one of the ten most outstand ing women of Alabama by the Alabama Federation of Women's Clubs. In the presentation at the Federation's annual conven tion she was cited for loyal service to the Federation and for civic and educational work in the state of Alabama. Laura Bailey Among Honor Graduates at Alabama College Laura Bailey, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Bailey of Heflin, Ala., formerly of this city, is among the honor graduates at Alabama College, Montevallo. Ala. She will receive a degree in physical education on June 4. Last fall Miss Bailey, a 1957 graduate of Murphy High School, was chosen "Miss Alabama College" by the student body as the student who most completely reflected the true spirit of the college in her personality. She is in Who's Who Among Students in American Colleges, Is a Senior Elite, a member of the senior honorary fraternity. Lambda Sigma Pi, and the honorary education fraternity Kappa Delta Pi, and was recently the recipient of the Edith Saylor Senior Award. Cherokee Rose Garden Club Hears Paul Nave Cherokee Rose Garden Club met in the home of Mrs. Her man Edwards on Tuesday night at which time Paul Nave, Cherokee County Farm Agent, presented a program on pro per planting, pruning and maintenance of shrubs and trees. One of the "Don'ts" stressed in the program was to top large trees. We see this being done locally all the time. Mr. Nave pointed out that this unbalances the tree's root system' insects and disease gets in the newly cut portion of the tree; and the tree even tually dies.
