Almost everything will be going on it Pembroke State University Friday and Satur day as Homecoming 1982 is in full gear. The week's activi ties will climax with Hall of .Fame Inductions, a women's basketball game, and a men's basketball game in addition to a two-day wrestling affair. All the sports activities will begin with the NCAA 11 Southern Regional Wrestling Championships slated to be gin at 6 p.m. on Friday. This marks the third con secutive year which Pembroke State University has hosted the national event. All weight winners plus two wild cards ^|1 advance to the National Q^ampionships set at the University of Wisconsin Parkside on Feb. 27-28. Six teams will be entered in the 1982 Southern Regional in Elizabeth City State, Pfeiffer, Winston-Salem State, and host Pembroke State repre senting North Carolina while other teams include Florida Central and Jacksonville State of Alabama. "We are extremely proud to host this national event," stated Pembroke State head wrestling Coach P.J. Smith. "Pembroke State University is proud to have been chosen by the NCAA as the site again for the Southern Regional." The tournament schedule includes the quarterfinals at 6 p.m. Friday followed by the semifinals at 8 p.m. Satur day's schedule will feature the consolation finals at 10 . a.m. with the championship Finals slated for 12:30 p.m. The wrestling event will be held in the main gym of the Jones Health and Physical Education Center. The Hall of Fame Induction will take place in the Auxiliary Gym of Jones P.E. Center in conjunction with the Alumni Banquet at 5 p.m. Three new members will be inducted into the Hall. The 1982 inductees include Ronnie Collins, Pembroke State's second baseball player to make All-American (Mike Carruthers was first one); Les Locklear. a three-sport athlete of the 1940'i; and Carl Peed, NA1A honorable mention AH American in basketball in 19691 They will being the total number in the Hall of Fame to 11. The five charter members were: Mike Carruthers. Joe Gallagher. Theodore Maynor. Tom Oxendine, and Ned Sampson. Inductees of 1981 included Alphonzo McRae, Victor Elk, and Forace Oxendine (de ceased* NCAA 0 Southern Regional Wreading Championship.
