A local chapter of the
National Beta Cub. a leader
ship sejvice organization for
high school students of Amer
ica was established on Thurs
day, Feb. 4 at South Robeson
High School, according to
Joseph Twitty, principal.
The national Beta Cub with
over 4500 local chanters in the
Junior and Senior Divisions
and approximately 190,000
members in the schools of
twenty eight states, is now in
its forty-eighth year. The
Senior Beta Club Division,
established in 1934 now has a
membership of approximately
110,000 in 2,600 chapters in
twcntv state*
Objectives of this non
secret, leadership service or
ganization are: to encourage
effort, to promote character,
to stimulate achievement
among its members, and to
encourage students to contin
ue their education after high
school graduation.

The bride graduated
from Pembroke Senior High
in 1978 and attended Robeson
Technical College and is
employed with Kayser-Roth
Inc.
