PEMBROKE STATE'S WOMEN'S RASKETBELL TEAM HAS FINE YEAR BREAKING SCHOOL RECORDS Pembroke State Univer sity's Lady Braves basketball team has put their uniforms away for another year, but the 1981-82 season will be re membered for a long time. The Lady Braves zoomed to a perfect 7-0 Carohnas Con ference regular mark, posted a perfect 10-0 home record, and finished 16-9 overall and in addition advanced to A1AW ie^oiiii competition for the , Ast time ever. g "We are very pleased with the regular season outcome and the effort," stated third year Coach Linda Robinson. "We knew we had a young, talented team, but we are nothing but pleased with the success of this year's unit." Coach Robinson added, "We feel very fortunate to have been 10-0 at home and we had posted several good wins on the road especially at Elon and High Point. We did not lose a close game during the regular season which speaks well for the young squad." Three school records were broken during the 1981-82 women's cage season. Junior transfer Donna Moody broke two records for moat free throws made in a single game and the most attempted. Against Baptist, the Fayette ville native made 14 free throws and attempted 16. The old record was set during the 1979-80 season when that team made 59.2 percent. "Our young players kept getting better and better," Coach Robinson continued. "They are already working on their own for next season which shows they are deufcr mined to be a fine balklub ", As Car as recruiting, touch Robinson says she has no committments, but they are looking for the strongest recruits for the positions. Coach Robinson hopes to add one guard, one forward, one center, and an extra player. "We played some' very good teams daring the season and that is one reason that our final record of 16-9 might not sound so good. But the strength of our schedule was extremely tough," (Coach Ro binson added. Pembroke State's victim in the Regional Tournament went on to win the region and is seeded first going into the A LAW National Champion ships. Seeded second is Fran cis Marion. PSU played three ' games with those calibre teams. The final stats found that the Lady Braves had five players average in double figures.
