The Sunday Sshoof Lesson A Ministry ot the &rm amnp Baptist Association QUEST HEABS HUMAN CUES Mask 7*32-37,1MM> He hath done all things weO: He maketh both the deaf to hear and the dumb to speak. Today's lesson is fo cused on two events. The first was the man who was deaf and had an impediment in his speech and the second was blind Bartimaeus. While we study today's lesson we should try to really visualise the needs of others rather than to be self-center ed. Jesus' ministry was al ways helping someone rather than himself. Verse 32: "The deaf man's friends brought him to Jesus and asked that He lay His hand on him, not only for His blessing, but doubtless for his healing. These people gave their time and effort V?m 33? "This was the "period at popularity" often called tte Great Galilean Ministry. It was the the time when Jesus performed his best known miracles and gave the world the teachings that are best remembered and most often quoted. It was the year when his fame spread like wild fire up and down the land, and great crowds follow ed him wherever he went. So Jesus gets man's attention fn various ways. By Jesus put ting his finger into his ears and he spit and touched his tongue, letting him know tht his suffering was giocg to receive the great physician's attention. Verne 34: like Jesus, we should have a prayerful atti tude. Jesus was both God and man. So Jesus, the man, looking up to heaven indicates me source of power sad from -whence h cometh. Veeee S5i Now, the miracle took place and the man's ears were opened and be was speaking plainly.' Vane Mi Today, we teach and preach the gospel, the good news, bat then Jesus' popularity Increased very fast especially after feeding the five thousand men, besides the women and children. Jesus told the people who saw what took place not to tell .anyone. You know7w1th some people they can't keep a secret, thus they helped to spread Jesus' Came, but at the same time his opposition increased. Jesus knew the cross lay ahead of him, but God also had a time table. Verse 371 Not only did the people approve of Jesus heal ing the man, but they were really amazed at bis teaching which touched the inner part of man. Just think, most people have two ears and a good speech. Let us spread the good news about Jesus, but if Jesus is not your Savior,. let him touch your life and make you a whole person in Christ Jesus. Mark 10:46-52. Many people mJ closed today to ml prisons! while others en to the|| individual prison at drugsj aVnholir beverages, but Bar? timaeous was a.Utod man seeking help.^ Jesus was with the crowd at pilgrims on thier way to Jecusalem far the Pass Over Festival. They had reached Jericho, only eighteen miles > from Jerusalem, and were beginning their last lap of the long walk from Galilee. Jay and excitement ran high among the people. Now, Bartimaeus had taken his place beside die road for he was used to large crowds at people passing that route year after year going to observe the Pass Over. Since he had heard of a new traveler with, the group that was preaching, teaching and healing people, for Bartimaeus the chance had come to get help. For when he heard that it was Jesus, he began to cry our, "Jesus, thou Son of David, have mercy cm me. The people told him to hold his peace, but Bartimaeus con tinued to cry our thou Son of David, have mercy on me." E32ES5 unto him, " What w?t thoo have 1 to do onto theeT" The blind maa said, "Lonl, that 1 might receive my sight." Awl Jesus said unto Ma. "Go thy way; thy faith have made thee whole." Immediately he I received his sight aad follow ed Jesus in the way. If you are spiritually blind, that is. you recognize yourself as being a sinner, just cry - unto the Lord in faith and He will come to your aid. Make your decision today. Follow Jesus and he wil make you whole. Golden Gleams A man apt to promise is apt to forget. -Thomas Fuller. Promises and pie-crust are made to be broken. -Jonathan Swift. AIRY NEWS by VtoM l.oiM?r The Young Adult Ladies rendered special music on Sunday morning, along with > the pastor. Among the many visitors were Mr. and Mrs. Joe Carter of La., Mr. Clayton Carter and Mr. A.D. Oxendine. Hoping Mr. Oxendine will start com ing to church. We will be praying for him to surrender. He has always been a fine person. We had a glorious revival this past week. Our visiting evangelist was the Rev. Jam es Dial of Broadway Baptist Church, Baltimore, Md. He is noted for his Old Testament preaching in which he is well versed. Our pastor and Rev. Dial rotated in bringing the messages. All were excellent and highly inspired. We had excellent attendance with an over flow crowd every night. Different churches participa ted in singing each night. One special group from out of town was the "Grace Gospel Sing ers" of Gastonia who were with us Friday and Saturday nights. The church was re vived and souls were saved. We had an overjoyed fellow ship in our fellqwship hall. The Young Adult Ladies, along with die pis tor, attend ed the revival on Sunday night at the New Point Baptist Church and did the singing. Rev. Sanford Locklear is their pastor. . Burnt Swamp Baptist Asso ciation WMU annual meeting this Saturday at Mt. Airy Baptist Church, 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. Dinner will be served in the fellowship hall. Mr. Stantley Locklear is a patient in Southeastern Gen eral Hospital. His condition is slowly improving. Mr. Harvey Hunt is a patient in Cape Fear Valley Hospital in Fayetteville. His condition remains unsatisfac tory. I know we all believe in prayer and its power to change life's situations. So pray much for die families of these two. For we have great assurance that God is mindful of his own. LET NOT YOUKHEAKTHE TROUBLED Whenever I am troubled And lost in deep despair I bundle all my troubles up And go to God in prayer...
