National
Honors
The United States Achieve
ment Academy announced
today that Brian Jooes has
been named a 1982 United
States National Award winner
in Mathematics and Science.
This award is a prestigious
honor very few students can
ever hope to attain. In fact,
the Academy recognizes less
than 5% of all American high
school students.
Brian Jones, who attends
Prospect High School was
nominated for this National
award by Dell Harris, Algebra
U teacher, and James Ronnie
Chsvis, Chemistry teacher.
Brian will appear in the
United States Achievement
Official Yearbook, published
nationally.
The Academy selects USAA
winners upon the exclusive
recommendation of teachers,
coaches, counselors or other
school sponsors and upon the
Standards for Selection set
forth by the Academy. The
criteria for selection are a
student's academic perfor
mance. interest and aptitude,
leadership qualities, enthusi
asm, motivation to learn and
improve, citizenship, attitude
and cooperative spirit, de
pendability, and recommen
dation from a teacher or
director.
Brian Jones is the son of
Russell and Carrie Mable
Jones. The grandparents are
Peter and Etta Jane Hunt of
Pembroke, NC and Carrie
Jones and the late Britton
Jones.
