Demos
for
Johnson
Launched
Fayettevflle-Tom Gibson, re
cent primary challenger of 7th
District Congressman Charlie
Rose, today in a news confe
rence in downtown Fayette
ville, announced the forma
tion of Democrats for Johnson
Committee.
Republican Ed Johnson of
Lumberton is seeking to un
seat Rose in the November
election.
Gibson charged that Rose
"is too liberal for the 7th
District." When Charlie Rose
is visiting if the 7th District,
' Gibson said, "he talks like
President Reagan." But in
Washington, "he votes like
Tip O'Neill and Ted Kenn
edy."
Gibson, who will serve as
Chairman of the committee,
explained: "I have taken this
position in an attempt to rally
Democratic support behind
Ed Johnson."
In citing Rose's voting
record in Congress, Gibson
accused Rose of voting "to
deny his constituents a 25%
income tax cut," while voting
himself a "$525.00 per week
personal tax deduction."
Gibson also said Rose "put
his political career ahead of
every tobacco fanner in his
district," and supported
"New York City union bosses
more than twice as often as
the businesses in his district'
According to Gibson, Rose
"leads his state delegation in
absentee votes and tax paid
junkets all over the world,"
and is guilty of voting "to bail
out New York City, the
Chrysler Corporation, and
even the Russian shipping
industry while his district has
had a 33% higher unemploy
ment rate than the rest of the
state" during his ten years in
Washington.
A
POEM...
The follow hog poem was
written by Jea Alee and
dedicated to her father, |(v>
C.C. Alloa, Jr. who la Pastor
of Eastside Church of God la
Fayette vile.
A PASTOR'S LOVE
Who do you call when you
ache with pain.
You feel you will never be the
same.
Someone who can really touch
God,
One who In Jeaas Ms hot
steps trod.
He's our pastor whom we
love so dear,
We all know he's always near.
When we need someone to
help us pray.
He's right there with us no
matter what comes his way.
Whenever we need someone
to marry our young,
He's right there until the
honeymoon's just begun.
Whenever we need "good"
advice,
We never have to ask him
twice.
'Cause we know he receives it
from the "Book,"
He gives us scriptures so we
ourselves can look.
Whenever he studies for a
.message to be preached, .
He studies and prays hard so
the lost souls can be reached.
We may not understand him
in whatever he may do,
But we love him and I think he
cares for us too.
We're his sheep and he's the
"Main man,"
Though at times his troubles
we don't understand.
There's no greater love
except from God above,
That can compare to A
PASTOR'S LOVE 111
