Mrs. Aggie Nora Sampson
celebrated her 90th birthday
at a tea given her by her
children in the fellowship hall
of Berea Baptist Church in
Pembroke. Over 150 guests
and relatives called between
the hours of 2:30 and 4:30
p.m.
Mrs. Rufus Smith, grand
niece of the honoree presided
at the registers table where a
crystal bud vase held a red
rose.
Mrs. Hardy H. Bell greeted
guests and directed them to
the receiving line composed of
Mrs. Sampson and her child
ren.
The refreshment table over
laid with a white linen cloth
was centered with an arrange
ment of yellow daisy mums
and babys breath. Guests
served themselves to a variety
of finger foods.
1 he white three tiered
birthday cake, accented with
silk flowers and topped with
the number 90 was served
from a separate table by Mrs.
Lynn Hunt, grand-niece and
Mrs. Barto Clark.
Mrs. Leon Hunt, grand
niece, poured punch from a
crystal bowl encircled with
fresh flowers on a white linen
covered auxiliary table.
The honotee's children are:

Mrs. Sampson has seven
teen grandchildren, twenty
four great grand-children and
five great great grand-child
ren.

JOHNSONS VISIT WITH PRESIDENT

Ed Johnson and his wife
Je&nnie Nye Johnson, recen
tly attended a Candidate's
School in Washington, D.C.
The school, sponsored by the
National Republican Commit
tee, was for Republican can
didates to polish up their
campaigns before the coming
election.
While in Washington,
Johnson attended briefings by
all the Cabinet secretaries,
and he met with President
Reagan at the White House.
The meeting with President
Reagan was very beneficial.
Johnson so impressed Presi
dent Reagan that a group
known as "The Citizens For
The Republic," which he
founded, contributed SI,000.
to Johnson's campaign.
This organization, "The
Citizens For The Republic"
was formed to help Ronald
Reagan in his bid for the
Presidency. The group, based
in Santa Monica, California
was very effective in raising
money for Mr. Reagan's
campaign in 1980. "Johnson
is the type of candidate who
will work for the President's
economic recovery program
when he gets to Washington.' -
To date, the Ed Johnson for
Congress Campaign has re
ceived a greater financial
contribution from President
Reagan and his political or
ganizations than from the
National Congressional Club.
