Pembroke succumbed to death 011 Saturday at Cape Fear Valley Hospital la Payee teville where he had been seriously ill for several weeks. Locklear was a World War ? Veteran who served in the United States Arpsy. After his military service, be was em ployed in local housing con struction with American Houses, Inc. in Lumberton and later became a building contractor. In 1964 he joined the instructional staff of Pem broke Senior High School ai an instructor in carpentry in the Vocational Education Pro gram. Funeral services were con ducted at First United Metho dist Church in Pembroke on Wednesday at 3 p.m. where Mr. Locklear had served as Leader of the Church School Adult Class for the past fifteen years. Rev. Ray Spar row, Pastor of First United Methodist Church in Pembro ke conducted the final rites and was assisted with special music by Arnold Locklear, soloist and Pamela Brooks, pianist. Eddie Mac Locklear, member of the Church School Adult Class also participated. Pallbearers were nephews of the deceased and included Holland Locklear, Jerry Lock lear, S.J. Locklear, Joseph Sampson, Jr., Charles Samp son and Billy Hunt. Friends, colleagues and business associates served as honorary pallbearers. Burial was in the Dial Family Cemetery at| Harper's Ferty Church. Surviving are Locfclear's wife. Ms. Mocy Dial Locklear of the home; one son.
