EXTENS10NSCENE B AGRICULTURAL EXTENSION SERVICE I other household*, the ?ouag | est member cf the fcmily baa I already begun to review toy | catalogs and other items that have mention about Christ mas. While the younger set can be counted on to think about Christmas throughout . the year, our Robeson County Bzlension Homemakers in 1 cooperation with our home ecooomics agents are getting an early start on the Christ mas season by planning a big Christmas crafts event for Saturday, November 13. On that Saturday, a Christ mas Crafts Show and Sate will be heM at the G.f. Owens Agriculture Center in Luin west of Lumberton. This exciting activity will begin at 9:00 a.m. and wfli conclude at 4:00 p.m. Members from the more than 25 Extension home makers chibs have been busy during the past several months helping their follow members develop and con struct Christmas crafts for this big activity. In addition, the show is open to other individuals who may be inter ested in the Extension home ecooomics program or simply do a good job in constructing crafts. The show this year will have numerous handmade Christmas decorations, tree ornaments, baskets of shucks, fend hickory strips, in addition to a considerable number of crocheted and knitted items. Other handmade oroducts ? that win be available include garment*, picture frames, woodcrafts, oeramks, sad numerous other interesting items that can readily fit the needs at those individuals who seem to be hard to find a suitable gift for. la addition to the craft show itself, the home economics demonstration kitchen at the O.P. Owens Building will serve as a mini-restaurant where shoppers and exhibi tors alike can purchase drinks sandwiches, and homemade baked cookies and breads. Other holiday festive food items will be available throughout the day. Mollye Briley, our home economics Extension agent who is coordinating this major activity, has included a giant nea marker this year along with the crafts show and sale. The flea market will be held in the parking lot ajacent to the O.P. Owens Agriculture Cen ter. Since the parking lot is relatively large, we are still taking reservations for space for the flea market. However, it is extremely important that anyone who would like to sell items in either the crafts show or the flea market be sure and contact our home economics department immediately at 738-8111. Another feature of this major activity will be the presence of craftsmen who can refurbish old Christmas decorations and give them a freth look. A small fee wffl be * charted for this service. ( Siace participation from the * general public has been so great in the past years and with a larger show anticipated this year, it was deemed best to hold the show in early November so that early birds e could get some of thst difficult i shopping over with before the I real rush begins after Thsnks- I giving. So don't miss this ? once-s-y ear opportunity to see and shop for some special and , unique items. 4 "Whoever mates the fewest persons uneasy is the best bred in the company."
