Bear Swamp Setting for Twins' Baby Shower ^ i . g , ? ,fi ft . -y ship Hall was the setting for a floating baby shower given to infant twins Chaaaioe Benee daughter* of Dr. aad -Mr*. David E. Brooks. Upon arrival Mrs. Wanda Brooks, mother at the twins, was presented a corsage of silk mini yellow roses aad white star flowers. The tether. Dr. David E. Brooks, was presented a boutonniere at yellow rose and white star flowers. The shower was given fcy Mrs. Mary Oxendine Bare of Salisbury, NC, cousin at the twins' father, and Mrs. Lois Sanderson, sister of the fath er. Decorations were done by Mrs. Bare. White lighted candles were placed on white tablecloths covered each table. Centerpieces for the food table were ABC music boxes la the shape of Nocks and decorated with stt flow eta arranged hi them.-Pink, were used to decorate each table. The mantel was deco rated with holy betiies and baby's breath with lighted 1 The punch bowl was deco rated with yellow mums and .baby's breath. Cake squares decorated in yellow, green and pink colors were adorn ed with miniature baby things on top of each one. Mints in" pink, yellow and green in the shape of booties and strollers were also served. Other finger foods served were chicken salad squares, rolled lunch eon meat sandwiches, a vari ety vegetable tray with vege table dip, a cheese ball with dip, and a variety of party nuts. Worship service began at [1 a.m. with "Love Feast" administered to the congrega km by the Stewarts. Ransom's scripture reading was taken from John 2:1*10 followed by special" music from the adult choir using the following selections: "Wpyf " and "When We Sing Around the Throne Eter nal." Following the music. Rev. Ransom brought the message using for his subject "The Best is Yet to Be." At the close of the message, Rev. Ransom announced the closing song with Freddy Oxendine to give the closing prayer as he marched down to the vestibule to give his goodbye greetings to the whole congregation. Rev. On Sunday, Sept. 5, the children and grandchildren of Ralph and Annie Lock!ear Craig honored their parents with a 30th wedding anniver sary celebration at their home on Route 2, Taylorsville, NC. Mr. and Ms.; Craig were married Sept. /12. 1952 in Charlotte. Mrs. Craig is the daughter of Mr. Dock E. Locklear and the late Mrs. j Mary Lowery Locklear of Route 8, Lumber ton. Mr. Craig is the son of the late Mr. Ralph Craig and Mrs. Francis Craig of San Diego, Calif. The couple have five chil dren: Charles Craig of Hicko ry, Mrs. David (Ann) Dawson of Taylorsville, Mrs. Grfcg (Arlene) Privette of Lenoir, Mrs. Robert (Sharon) Mace of Greenville.SC, Mr. Vargo Locklear of West Palm Beach, Fla. (Deceased) and seven grandchildren. A buffet dinner of ham buscuits, turkey, potato salad, chicken salad, pickles, olives, celery, tomato, deviled eggs, ham, cheese, olive and pine apple sticks was served. Pun ch and cake were served to eighty guest*. Hosts and hostesses were Mrs. Craig's brothers and their wives and her sisters and their husbands. Prayer was spoken by Mr. Charles Locklear of' Warren, Mich. Guests were greeted by Mr. - and Mrs. Grover Locklear of Lumberton. The guest regis ter was attended by Mr. and Mrs. Dock Locklear, Jr. of Lumberton. Gifts were re ceived by Mr. and Mrs. Louis Locklear of West Palm Beach, Fla. The cake was cut by Mrs. Gerald Freeman of Fairmont, NC and Mrs. Joe Clohossey of Pine Hurst, NC. The punch was served by Mrs. Betty Allison* of Lumberton and Mrs. Cardell Oxendine of Charlotte. Goodbyes were said to Mr. and Mrs. Lawren ce Locklear of Lumberton. The Craig couple was also honored on Saturday night at Star Town Fish House in Conover with 46 guests and at a breakfast at Mull's Restau rant in Hickory, NC with 48 guests including Mr. Mcdel lan Locklear of Lumberton who is more commonly called the "Mayor of Saddletree." 4 Mr. and Mr?.
