History Alive! Donna Jones and Danny Wilson, both seniors at PSU, help make history come alive for elementary students in the Robeson County Schools. This is the third year the students have Volunteered to Act our Prominent People in American History for stu dents. Archie Oxendine, Com munity Schools Coordinator, stated "this is one of the best educational programs in the stytems." Donna dressed -int e*f costume of Harrett Tub man, slave woman before the Civil War. Danny dressed as Ben Franklin, the man of history. Dr. Chet Jordan, theatre director at PSU, is working with the Robeson County Schools on this project that has been so well received by teachers and students. "Our evaluation of the Living History Project is a learning experience for the University students and for our students in public educa tion," continued Archie Ox endine. "Student learning history. Theatre Conference Secondary Play Festival PSU is proud to host the annual North Carolina Theat er Conference Secondary Play Festival. December 11 and 12. 1982. Representing region three and four, approximately 18-20 high schools will participate in the 2 day presentation of one act plays chosen by the respective schools. This ac tivity . is sponsored by the Seconday School Theatre Divi sion of the North Carolina V Theater Conference and is fe produced by the Theater I Division of the Department of | Communication and Theatre ( at the University of North I Carolina at Greensboro. The I general purpose of the pro- fi gram is to stimulate interest ? and participation in Theater I Arts in North Carolina. It will 1 serve as both a showcase and 'I a means of evaluating and I improving standards of the I secondary school theatre pro- I gram in the state. I The one act plays will be in I competition and will be judg- I ed on several points including I CREATIVE expression, stan- I dards of excellence and tech- I niques demand by the various I styles of expression. I The Regional Awards to be I given are: Distinguished Play, I Honorable Mention Play, Best I Actor, Best Actress, Honor- I able Mention Acting^ Ensem-' I ble Acting, Honorable Mention Ensemble Acting, I Excellence in Directing, I Theatre Arts and the NCTC I Regional Theatre Award. I Enoch Morris, Coordinator I of Dramatic Activities at PSU I coordinated the Play Festival, I which includes a line up of I activities. Beginning at 12 I p.m. on Friday, December 10. I a play is scheduled every hour J until 9 p.m., breaking at 5 I p.m. for dinner. Saturday, I Dec. 12, the one act plays will I begin at 8 a.m. and continue I until 5 p.m., breaking at 12 p.m. for lunch. There is no charge for these performances and it is open to the public.
