I?? , 40th Wedding ^ Anniversary note4 I l IS .fry*#: lit mt 1 IM fiUl ? Mr. and Mra. Bowman Freeman celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary at Har pers Ferry Baptist Church on July 28, 1984. To help them celebrate were their two sons: Mr. and Mrs. Earlie Brace Freeman and Billy H. Freeman, both of Pembroke. Their four grandchildren: Lorla D. Freeman, Tiffany L. Freeman, Shealeen Freeman, and David Joel Freeman. There were about 130 (amity member* and friend* who attended this special event. [Photo by Bruce Barton] Deaths and Funerals FINAJ, JUTES OF LUTHER EDMOND LOCKLEAR Funeral services for Lu ther Edmond Locklear, 79, of Route 2, Red Springs, were held on Sunday, Aug. 19, at 3 p.m. at Union Chapel Meth odist Church. Officiating mi nisters were Rev. Price Oxen dine, Rev. Grover Oxendine and Rev. Early Maynor. He is survived by his wife, Violia Locklear; one foster son, Seymour Dunn of Lum berton; one daughter, Sylvia Oxendine of Red Springs; two foster daughters, Elizabeth Jacobs and Loretta Dunn, both'of the home; one broth er, Fuller Locklear of Pem broke; two sisters, Martha Thompson of Bartow, Fit. and Mary Lee Sutherland of Laur inburg; and three grandchil dren. Arrangements were by Red Springs Funeral Home. FINAL RITES FOR ELIZABETH OXENDINE Final rites for Elisabeth Oxendine, 66, of Route 1, Shannon were held Saturday, Aug. 18, with the Rev. Curtis Oxendine and Rev. Oene Chavis officiating. Burial fol lowed at Community Holiness Church Cemetery. She k survived by one son, James Ellis Locklear of I Greensboro; one daughter, Flowers Hunt of Loasberton; a nephew wbom she mede bar children. " Little League Season Ends The Robeson County Re creation and Park Commis sion endad its Little League Baseball Season on Saturday, August 4, 1984. Robeson County Recreation Depart ment had 6 locations of Little League. The first place teams in each League were: Rowland Apparel, Row land, 7-4; Hasty Insurance, Maxton, IS Maxton, 15-0; Central Tire, Magnolia, 1S-0; Cardinals, Prospect, 8-4; Old Main, Al lenton, 8-4; Robeson Plant, St. Pauls, 11-4. On August 8, 1984 Robeson County Little League Tour nament started. There were a total of 30 teams from Robe son County Recreation De partment League. 7 teams from Pembroke Little League.
