Schultz, Jr. ^?or<5?JSSl There is much concern in the press these days, as well as a great deal of rightful indignation y Doctors ana patients alike, regarding so-called "cures" for arthritis. This is as it should be," savs Dr. Schultz, D.C., of the Schultz Chiropractice Center. "Phony gimmicks and pills have been known to do arthritics out of fortunes and frequently, so-called 'arthritis drugs' have led to serious health impairments in themselves," { says Dr. Schultz. What are the early signs? "I could go on at length," says Dr. Schultz, with medical ter minology relative to the early signs. However, rather than at tempting to confuse, which such advice could do, let me give you a few simple, easily understood signs to watch for: Lgou find that slight blows to yoGr fingers of leg or elbow causes them to sMfen up slightly with some mildjWfh' it's a danger signal. "For instance, if a father is paly ing catch with is son and the ball 'bumps' his thumb and the digit stiffens and hurts. If you sleep with an arm over your forehead and you find that the shoulder pint is slightly sore in the morning, that's a sign. If you feel a grating or popping sensation in your neck when turn ing your head quickly, that too, is a danger sign. In other words, Dr. Schultz cau tions that these slight changes in the joint can indicate a system ripe for arthritis attack. "People who have stiffness or swelling, slight sore and tender spots, all should come in for a cneck-up. Arthritis is not something you resign yburself to. Any par ocular case could be effectively treated. But time is of the essence. "Procrastination is the friend of arthritis," says Dr. Schultz. "If you feel you have a potential ar thritic problem find out immediate ly what can be done for it. Your haste could well save you a lifetime of agonizing regret."
