"Junior Miss Lumbee", Erica Nicole Dellinger Enjoys Traveling An Ambassador For Her People, The Lumbee Junior Miss Lumbee to Attend Garthering Qf the Nations As Erica N. Dellinger prepares for her trip to "The Gathering of the Nations Powwow" in Albuquerque, New Mexico, she realizes this is a "once in a lifetime" opportunity! While in New Mexico, Erica will be participating in the Powwow and attend the "Miss Indian World" pageant. Erica's trip to New Mexico is indeed the farthest trip she has taken serving as an ambassador for her people. However, each and every trip and appearance has been of equal importance. Whether it has been a parade, banquet, church gathering, pageant, or powwow. Erica knows she is not only representing herself and her family, she is representing more than 40,000 Lumbee people across the nation. Erica has participated in numerous Powwows including Our Fall Lumbee Powwow, the Coharie Powwow, the Guilford County Powwow, the Brunswick County Powwow, the N.C. State Powwow, and the UNCPembroke Powwow. She participated in the Fairmont Farmer's Festival Parade, the Veteran's Day Parade in Pembroke, and the Christmas Parades in Lumberton and Maxton. Throughout Native American Heritage Month, Erica participated in Programs in many of the schools in the county; speaking, singing, and also demonstrating traditional dance. She has performed at area churches, several banquets for Senior Citizens, the Indian Unity Conference. Pembroke Day, a UNC-Pembroke Basketball Game, and at the N.C. State University NASO Banquet. Erica's schedule this year has been most hectic; balancing church activities, academics, sports, and the title of "Jr. Miss Lumbee". She remembers a statement someone said to her recently; "being a queen is easy". Little do they realize there are many responsibilities that come with the title! Had it not been for the cooperation and willingness to help from her teachers at Purnell Swell High School and the principal. Mr. Wesley Revels, Erica knows this would have been an even greater task! Erica would not trade all the wonderful experiences and the opportunities she has had meeting the many interesting people throughout the state and country for anything! Throughout her reign. Erica has been encouraged and supported by so many people. No matter where she has traveled, people have always responded with positive words and actions! Erica would like to say a special "Thank You" to all who have indeed supported and helped her throughout this year!! I You can win this original hand made ijeet doli Porcelain dollfor $/. 00.
