Ephesians 6:1-3 The Indian Honor Association of Robeson County Honors These Indian Elders: | PURPOSE The purposes tor the organization are as follows: to promote honor and respect for Indian elders by their families and communities by recognizing the elders for their family's full participation in the electoral process of Robeson County in all primary and general elections and to encourage eligible Indian people and the public at large without regard to race, creed, sex. or national origin to register and vote in all elections. v- ? . _ HBHB Gertrude L. Lockleur Gertrude L. Locklear was bom February 5, 1915, the first of seven children bom to Julius and Annie Locklear. She departed this life in September 1999. She was preceded in death by a brother, Winford Locklear. She was retired from the public schools of Robeson after 40 years of teaching She is survived by two sons, Marshall Ronald Locklear and his wife, Regina, and their two children, Barry and Monica; Gary Lynn Locklear and his wife, Molly, and their two I children, Brooke and Bradley, two lifters, Edith Upton of Pembroke and Hazel Jones of Duluth, Georgia: three brothers, Euthred (Buddy) Locklear of Pembroke, Ralph Locklear of Fresno, CA: and Earl Locklear of Wrightsville Beach: and two great grandchildren, Austin and Colby. Mrs. Delora Jane Locklear Lumberton-Mss.. Delora Jane Locklear, 57, of Lutnberton, died Tuesday, June 5, 2001 at Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton Mrs. Locklear was born in Lumberton on December 13, 1943 and was the daughter of thelate Anna Bell Locklear and Willie Brewington, Sr She was also the stepdaughter of the late Purvis Locklear. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Willie Brewington, Jr and Lam- Brewington. Mrs. Locklear was self-employed and a partner bf FullePs 'Old Fhshioned BBQ in Lumberton and Elizabethtown of which she and heir husband established in 1986. Delora Was dedicated to her husband, her family and her work. Funeral services were held 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 8, 2001 at Revels Funeral 1 lome Chapel in Lumberton. Rev. Julian Ransom, Rev. Kelly Sanderson, Rev. Jimmy Hammonds and Rev Ron Locklear officiated Burial followed in the Mt Olive Baptist Church Cemetery. She is survived by her husband, James Fuller Locklear of he home, four daughters, Demetris Hunt of Rowland, Laura Ann Brayboy of Lumberton, Karen Johnson of Lumberton, Sonya Hughes of Dover, Delaware: two sons, James Dean Locklear and Eric Lynn Locklear, both of Lumberton: one sister, Larue L. Dclvalle and one brother, Gregory Foster Locklear, and eight grandchildren ' Carrie More Dial Pentbroke-Came Moore Dial, 85, of 3799 Prospect Road, Pembroke, NC died Wednesday at her home after a courageous battle with cancer Bom October 6, 1914 in Robeson County. She was the daughter of the late Charles I ladden and Marie Sampson Moore. Mrs. Dial graduated from Prospect High School and Pembroke Sute College. She was a retired public school teacher. Mrs. Dial was a lifelong and devoted member of Prospect United Methodist Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher She was a member of the administrative board, the staff parish relations committee, and the United Methodist Women. She established the church's historical room Mrs. Dial was preceded in death by her husband, Simmie Dial. She is survived by her daughter, Byrtis Dial Brayboy and her husband, Tim Brayboy of Cary, NC: her son, Talford Ray Dial and his wife, Betty Thompson Dial of Pembroke: her brother, James EveTette Moore of Pembroke: her sister, Mary Moore Morehead of Montpelier, Indiana' her granddaughter, Mia Brayboy Pate and her husband, Ricky Pate of Raleigh, NC. Vernon Uxendine Mr. Vernon Oxendine, 79, of Pembroke, died Friday, December 22, 2000 at Duke Medical Center. He is survived by his wife, Nancy C. Oxendine: five children, Gervais Oxendine of Southern Pines, Annie Sue Kerns of Lumberton, Terryl O. Sampson of Pembroke, Mickey Vemon Oxendine of Pembroke and Teresa Bell of Shannon. Other survivors include ten grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, many extended family members and numerous life-long friends. Hewas. preceded in death by his parents, Anderson Oxendine and Mariah Lowery Oxendine; two brothers, C.W. Oxendine and Hubert Oxendine; six sisters: Allie Bertha Strickland, Sarah Bryant, Erma Lee Chavis, Nora Bell Baker. Verlie Mae Jacobs and Ophelia Oxendine. Mr. Oxendine was retired from a career in law enforcement as Pembroke Chief of Police. \ as rmass? Mrs. Olivia Dial Hunt Mrs Olivia Dial Hunt, age 58, died at her home, 2174 St. Anna Road, Pembroke, on Thursday. September 7, 2000 after and extended illness. She was the daughter of the late Mr. Lacy Duet Dial and the late Mrs. Lillie Mae Emanuel Dial. She was preceded in death by a sister: Ms Drenna Jean Dial Oxendine and a brother, Mr. Lacy Dial Jr. She is survived by her husband, Mr. Douglas A. Hunt of the home: one son, Mr Sean C. Hunt of the home , a daughter, Ms. Cynthia L. 1 lunt of Pembroke; "her boys" Damien and Desmund and two granddaughters; Kalia and Dana. She was retired school teacher. Rev. Isaiah Lock tear Rev. Isaiah Locklear, 101, of 324 Isaiah Road, Maxton, was bom August 6, 1899 to the late Mr. Elias Locklear and Mrs.. Delphia Jacobs Locklear and departed this life on Sunday, June 10, 2001 at Scotland Memorial Hospital. He was preceded in death by two wives, Mandy Chavis Locklear and Mrs Belhina Locklear Locklear. Rev. Locklear is survived by three daughters, Ms Pauline Locklear and Ms. Verna Jeanctle Locklear, both of the home and Mrs. Flora J. Locklear of Pembroke; two sons, Mr. Jenis Locklear and Mr. Ezra "Boss" Locklear, both of Maxton. two sisters, Mrs.. Polly Oxendinc of Maxton and Mrs. Catherine Strickland of Pembroke; seventeen grandchildren, and a host of great-grandchildren; great-great grandchildren, relatives and friends. Myrtle L. Lowry Ms. Myrtle L. Lowry, 75, of 2056 NC 710 Hwy S., Rowland, departed this life on Sunday, April 1, 2001. <s. Lowry was bom on July 17, 1925, She leaves behind to cherish her memory four sons, Jim Lowry of I ligh Point, Robby Lowry of Rowland, J Harvey Lowry Jr. of Maxton and Jerry Lowry of Laurinburg She was blessed with six grandchildren: Chadwick, Jayme. Elena, Ana, Jammi and Harvey III, and four great grandchildren Ms Lowry is survived by her five brothers,. Charles I-ocklcar of Row land. Willard Strickland Mr Willard Strickland, 77, of 882 Coins Road. Pembroke was bom January 26, 1923 and departed this life Thursday, August 31, 2000 at Southeastern Regional Mcdicat Center. He was the son of the late Mr Braxton and Mrs. Lula Strickland. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. I.ady Locklear Strickland, a daughter, Mrs. Genette S. Brown and a brother, Mr. Addison Strickland Mr Strickland leaves to cherish his memories seven sons, Mr. W.J. Strickland of Manassas, VA, Mr Harold Ray Strickland, Mr... Ronald Gene Strickland and Mr James Everette Strickland, all of Pembroke, Mr. Earl Homer Strickland and Mr. Johnny Ray Strickland, both of Lumberton and Mr. Jetf Strickland of Durham, three daughters, Mrs. Carolyn Strickland of Maxton, Mrs Cheryl Oxendinc and Mrs I.incll Strickland, both of Lumberton: two brothers. Mr Marvin Strickland of Rowland Mr Norman Strickland of Pembroke; three sisters, Mrs. Marcclla S. Dial i Pembroke. Mrs Lula Locklear anil Mrs Margie Jones, both of Lumbcrtort: thirty-four grandchildren, twenty-seven great-grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends. Ssg.
