OBITUARIES Stedford Chavis Sr. MAXTON-Mr. Stedford Chavis Sr.. 75, died Monday (June 25) in Duke University Medical Center in Durham. Mr. Chavis was an army veteran of World War II and a carpenter. He was also a Sunday School superintendent for 25 years at Community Holiness Church and a member of the VFW.
