Notice is hereby given to the
known and unknow n relatives of
those persons buried in the
Chavis Family Cemetery on the
property of Robert Anthony
Chavis; that said cemetery is located
on property owned by
Robert Anthony Chavis on Back
Swamp Road (SR 1164) in
Lumberton, North Carolina, more
particularly on the east side of
Back Swamp Road approximately
200 meters south of Back Swamp
in State Project 8.T461503 (WBS#
34336.2.6), Robeson County.
North Carolina; that the following
named persons are among the
named deceased buried in said
cemetery: C. Lynn Johnson
Bowen. Margie L. Chavis, Oscar
Chavis. Anna Wessie Chavis,
Grady L. Chavis, Diean Chavis.
and James Randy Chavis; that
there are seven graves located in
the cemetery who the Department
of Transportation has not
been able to ascertain either the
next of kin or any other relative
other than James Chavis of
Lumberton, North Carolina; that
the grave of C. Lynn Johnson
Bowen located in this cemetery
will be relocated and re-interred
at Prospect United Methodist
Church while the remaining six
graves also located in this cemetery
will be relocated and re-interred
at Reedy Branch Baptist
Church; that a complete record
of where the seven deceased persons
whose next of kin have not
been able to be located will be reinterred
will be on file with the
Register of Deeds of Robeson
County, North Carolina.
You are futher notified that the
seven graves are being moved
and the Department of Transportation
will be responsible for all
reasonable expenses pertaining
under the provisions of North
Carolina General Statute 65-13
and that the removal will begin
after this notice has been published
once a week for four consecutive
weeks over a period of
thirty (30) days in The
Robesonian in Lumberton, North
Carolina, and in The Carolina Indian
Voice in Pembroke, North
Carolina.
