Warren Weaver ( of J^organ College, and present C. '1. X. A. champion, defeated John L. Mc- Griff, Jr., in the finals in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3; 6-1. Weaver had stiff opposition all the way to the finals but seemed to improve in each match. McGriff disposed of Dr. Elwood Downing in straight sets, 8-6; 6-0; 6-1, to reach the {inal round. . » I’he indomitable MoGriffs, the father and son combination, were never extended until the semi-fi nal round where the A & T team of jHorbin & Bowling required four Sets to be vanquished, 1-6; 7-6; 6-3; 6-3. In the final round the Hunt Brothers? of St. Au^stine's College and runner-ups in the C. I. A. A., fell before the experience and court tactics of the McGriffs, 6-4; 6-4; 6-3. In winning this year’s doubles title, the McGriflfs gained a third legf oa the erpetual trophy donated by^ the North Car olina Mutual Life Insurance Com pany, Durham, N. C., and have now permapent possession on the trophy.
