The theme of the conferance was “A Campaign For Balanced Prcsperity in the South, IMO- 50.” In this effort there are, as set forth by the leadera of the movement, ten methods for achieving the objective "Balanc ed Pf'csperity.” The organiza tion committee for “Balanc.ed Prosparity in the South, 1940- 60” set forth ten roads to what the governors, public agencies and cooperating citizens of the South are seeking. They are; 1 Balance crops with live stock, consistent with sound land use. 2 Balanced money crops with (inclading forestry) with food, feed, And fertility crops. crops. S Balanced production pro- greaa with marketing and trans- po^:^tion ojiiwrtunities, without trade barriera. 4 Balanced farm with factor- iesu 5 Land, water, and miweral reaources with population needa. 6. Balance work with thrift and local investment. 7 Owner prosperity with worker prosperitp. i 8 Incfeasing income, with in creasing home ownership. 9 Balanced wealth with beauty and culture. 10 Economic Gains with gaina in moral values and human wel- fare.
