C. spent a few days in the city la.st week with her neice and great nephew, the Billy Hills. Mrs. Ellen Ijann left Sunday morning for Washington, D. C. to be with her .son Thomas who is ill. Mrs. Percy Young of North Carolina College has just return ed from a visit with her mother and other relatives in Kansas and St. Liouis, Mo. R. N. Harris left Friday for Chicago where he will be for the next month pursuing a course in Apprasial Technique. Mrs. Bertha Atwater has re turned to her home from Ehike Hospital. She recently under went an operation in Duke and is now recuperating nicely. Mrs. Ethel Perry is in Pitts burg, Pa. at the bedside of her daughter, Mrs. Bertha Jordan. Mrs. Jordan is critically ill and we trust she will soon pass the crisis and then on to recovery. The Ladies Aid Club of St. Joseph A. M. E. Church met Wednesday evening with Mrs. EvelyTi Dudley at her home on Pekoe Street. The home was beautiful throughout with ar rangements of assorted flowers from the Dudley Garden. Miss Hattie Jenkins, vice- president presided over the meeting. Impressive devotionals were given by Miss Geneva Me- bane. Plans were perfected for remembrance of sick fathers of club members on Fathers Day. The next regular meeting in July will be with Miss Marie Faulk. The meeting was opened by singing “Take The Name Of Jesus With You,” led by Mrs. Margaret Williams. Scripture lesson was read by Mrs. Eliza beth Brown followed by prayer by Guy' Mazyck. Mr. Mazyck asked as president in the ab sence of Mrs. E. T. Williams. Members present were: Mes dames Sarah Cameron, Lottie Crockran, Elizabeth Brown, Annie Thompson, Margaret Wil liams; Mjpssrs. Alexander Mc Clain, William Foster and Grover Burthey. After the business session, tlie hostess served a delicious din ner. Everyone left declaring Mrs. Green a grand hostess. The weiner roast wai h«ld in the back yard and Mrs. Burnett and sister, Andrea helped to entertain the gang with varied games. After several spirited games, they roasted weiners and had re freshing iced coal drinks. “Small Fry” enjoying the evening with Catherine were: Elaine Soliee, Evelyn, Wanda Jean, and Natalie Marshall, Eve lyn Kennedy, Catherine Pratt, Kriek Michaux, BoBby Beale, Warren Wheeler, Aaron Spauld ing, John Cardwell and Lovell Love. A family reunion was held at the home of Mrs. Lizzie Rigsbee on Sunday afternoon, June 18. The Model Mothers Club met with Mrs. E.sther Baldwin on the_ Baldwin Farm on Siinday afternoon at four clock. Shelly, president, presided over the meeting. A club song was com posed by the president and sec retary which was also approved by the club members present. At the conclusion of the busi ness isession, Mrs. Singleton served a delicious repast of fried chicken, green peas in pattie shells, potato chips, ice tea, lemon chocolate layer cake, home made ice cream, mints and nuts to the following members: Mes dames M.
