Barnes, 1013 Willard Street. Those present were Mrs. Alice Walker, Mrs. Cora Barnes, Mrs. Mabel H. McClain, Mrs. Sue Cam eron, Mrs. Ruth Bivins and the hostess, Mrs. Barnes. A delicious breakfast was enjoyed. MRS. MARTIN ENTERTAINS “MODEL MOTHERS” The Model Mothers Club held its annual Christmas party at the home of Mrs. Theola Martin on Otis Street. Mrs. Naomi Thorpe presided over the short business meeting. Games were played. Mrs. Peddy won the prize. The usual Ctiristmas refreshments were served. Membejrs present were: Mesdames Marian Altson, Nellie Toole, Althea Holmes, Lydia Wray, Adell Thornton, Naomi Thorpe, Reba Spaulding, Francis Schooler, Minnie Gilmore, Roxie Row land, Gladys McKinney, Thebla Martin, Benetta Peele and Min- niet Forte. WALLTOWN AGED ARE FETED The aged and handicapped people of Walltown were enter tained at a Cliristmas party Thursday, December 27, by Mrs. Lessie Battle and Mrs. Grace McKnight. The highlights of the evening in cluded Clu'istmas carols and games. A delicious repast of sand wiches and hot drinlcs were served. Gifts were presented to each guest. Those enjoying the evening were: Mrs. Jennie Carter, Mrs. Jennie Carter, Mrs. Aaron Moore, Mrs. Williams, Mrs. Frances Riciiardson, Rev. W. A. Green, Miss Ossie L. ENTERTAINS SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASS On Friday night, December 28, Mrs. Mary Horton entertained the Mary E. Borland Sunday School class of the West Durham Baptist Church at her home on the Fayetteville Road. The home was decorated throughout in the holiday motif. Various games were enjoyed during the evening, after which gifts were exchanged by secret pals whose names were then re vealed. MRS. TAPP VISITS OLD DOMINION STA’TE Mrs. Jodieva Tapp spent the holidays with her first cousin, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Carrington of Richmond, Virginia. While there, Mrs. Tapp visited many scenic points. She was also a guest at a tea party at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Sales. Other guests included Mr. and Mrs. Joe Carrington. On New Year’s Day, Mrs. Tapp took a motor trip around various points of Virginia. She re ports a very pleasant vacation. RETURNS FROM ROCHESTER Miss Dorothy Trice of Rochester, New York has returned home after spending several days visiting her father and friends here. Miss Trice is the daughter of Owens Trice of 117 Dunstan Avenue. LYON PARK GARDEN CLUB PARTY The Lyon Park Rose Garden Club met at the Algonquin Club House on December 20. The meeting was opened with the group singing, “Hark The Herald Angels Sing.” Christmas and New Year’s wishes were said, carols were sung, games played and gifts exchanged. Much fun was had by all. Members present Mesdames Sophronia Green, Alice Jones, Fannie Tapp, Pearl Brown, Elizabeth Hester, Fannie Cozart, Sadie Mebane, Elnora Smith, M. W. CHURCH GROUP NAMES OFFICERS Kyles Temple Missionary Circle Number One met at the home of Mrs. Mattie Roysters, 306 Lawson Street, Monday night, Jan uary 7. The opening song was led by Mrs. Lyda Hopkins, prayer was offered by Mrs. Lena Page, followed by scripture lesson by Mrs. Louise Smith and explained by Mrs. Royster and Mrs. Lyda Hopkins. This being the first meeting of the new year, a short talk was made by the president, Mrs. Creasy Smith and officers were elect ed. Members present were Mesdames Creasy Smith, Lena Page, Lyda Hopkins, Louise Smithi Mattie Royster, L. C. McKinney, Fannie McLaughlin, Annie Mae Lyons and Miss Joan Royster. A wonderful feast from haven was enjoyed by the members and friends. Afterwards refreshments were served. The next meeting will be at the home of Mrs. Lyda Hopkins,' 515 Lincoln Street. Mr. and Mrs. Sam Lann visited their sister in Spartanburg, South Carolina, New Year’s week-end. RANDOLPH ATTENDS ILL FATHER Mrs. Emma Randolph is in Eufalia, Alabama, visiting her father who recently underwent surgery. We trust she finds him much improved. STEPHENS RECUPERATES Mrs. Ina Stephens is recuperating at her home on Beamon Avenue, after undergoing treatment at Lincoln Hospital. BLUE BRASS STATE NATIVE VISITS HERE Miss Louise Fitzpatrick of Ashland, Ky., left last Friday after spending two weeks with her neice and nephew, Mr. and Mrs. William Jones of Rosewood Avenue. Several social courtesies were extended her. Mrs. Richard Barksdale entertained at a shrimp gumbo luncheon in her honor. A host of friends came in to metet the guest. Mrs. Jean McNeil entertained at a party in her honor. Mrs. Barksdale and Mrs. McNeil are also resident of Rosewood Avenue. Other social courtesies were also extended by Miss A. Mason, Mason, Mrs. Beatrice White and Mrs. Mabel Powell. MRS. "Silent Night,” led by Carl Gray and accompanied with SCTipture, Saint Matthew 2:1-14 read by Reverend Gray, was sunk by all for the opening, which was very impressive. The three highest savers for the year were crowned by Mrs. Adeline Lloyd. These honors went to Walter Brown, who tiad saved $11.00, Mrs. Rosa Jaby, $103.50 and Mrs. Eva Holman, $81.- 50. After exchanging of gifts. Miss Louise Brown, the recording secretary, whose wedding was an event of December 23rd, was an event of December 23, was showered with gifts.
