C., Dr. Oscar J. Cooper, Philadelphia, Bishop Edgar A. Love, Bautimore, and Dr. Er nest E. Just, deceased. Heading the fund campaign for construction of the building is Grant Reynolds, prominent attorney of New York City and White Plains, N. Y. ilNCOlN HIGH NEWS CHAPEL HILL, N. C The Chapel Hill Chaptar of the New Farmers of America se lected as their community ser vice project this year the face lifting of one house in the com munity. In choosing the paWi- cular house consideration was given to its nearness to the school so that as little time aa possible would be lost in gei^ ting to and from the project, thei availability of things that need ed to be done in keeping with shop activities t>eing taught in' classroom discussions and tho willingness of owner to cooper ate with the program. The house selected was Mrs. Fikes’ resi dence located near the schooL The house belongs to Mr. Wins low C. Williams of Carrboro. To date the following things have been accomplished: Roof- painted, new porch flooring and floor paint on front and back porch, window lights put in all windows, two coats of paint on the outside, new screen wire on oack porch. When the house is completed a picture will be tak en so that the class members may compare it with the one taken before any work was started. The next community project to be undertaken by the New Farmers of America will b^ their annual Christmas pro-> gram, at which time they will bring joy and delight to many children in the community. Douglas Clark, chairman of the Christmas committee is sending out an appeal with this -article for any toys that the committee might get for these children. Any person having such toys (old or new) is asked to get iri touch with Douglas Clatk, 8-3627, Knolls Development, or ‘call R. D. Smith, Teacher of Vo cational Agriculture at 9-8802 after 4 p.m. Another outstanding feature of the Annual program of work of the local chapter is the Camp Drive. This drive is hel^ annually for the benefit of th^ association in building NFA Camp at Hammock Beach. The chapter goal for this year has been set at $150.00. Speech Class Presents Radio Skit “Good Schools Are Your Re sponsibility” is the subject of a dramatic skit to be presented over WCHL by members of the speech class of Lincoln High School during American Educa tion Week, November 7-13. The group has arranged to make the recording for the broadcast on Wednesday, November 3. Those taking part in the skit are Alicia Jones, senior; Alfred' Parrish, senior; Delores Walker, senior; Desby Harris, junior; Elaine Hairston, junior; and Hilda Powell, junior. The group will present a dramatic skit, “Our Greatest National Asset—' Lincoln High Band In Demand Lincoln High School band, having more invitations to serve than its program will admit, has participated in three home coming xxurades beside ta own ths term. With Lincoln’s Home-coming Queen riding in each of the parades, the band has played for Jordan-SeUars High, Pittsi l>oro High, and will march with Sanford High School Friday, October 29th. , The band of fifty t)oys and girls is conducting an inteensive drive to raise the sum of $100. per pijpll or 5,000.00 to buy in struments, they will leave the band without instruments whea they graduate and leave thd school. The Ways and Means Com mittee of Lineoln High School sponsored its annual Halloweeil Carnival on Thursday, at 8:00 P.M. All parents and students were invited to come out for an evening of fun. Senior Class News Twenty two members of the senior class of Lincoln High School accepted the invitatiori extended by the agricultural and Techmical College o# Greensboro, and attended the Annual High School Senior Day held on Saturday, Oct. 16, The day’s activities included tours of the new trades build ings, a lawn concert by the band, the football game be tween Shaw University and A and T College and luncheon and ceeds, which w^r^ in excess of $200 were used to supplement the Men’s Day Program held October 17 to raise funds for the church.
