Funeral Rites For Mrs. Thelma Allen Held At First Baptist Church Dec. 8 Funeral services were held for Mrs. Thelma Allen at the First Calvary Baptist Church Wednesday, December 8, at 1:30 p. m. Mrs. Alien died Sun day, December 5. The Rev. A. L. Thompson, pastor of First Cal vary, was the officiating minis- tej^and gave the eulogy. The'^(fii|Aure was read by the Rev. C. E. McL«ster, pastor of the Morehead Avenue Baptist Church, and prayer was offered by the Rev. J. H. Peppers, pas tor of the St. Paul Baptist Church. Acknowledgements and reso- lutions were read by Mrs. M. W. Webb and “Nothing Between" was sung by Mrs. Elizabeth Bullock. Mrs. Allen was bom in Dur- liam May 1, 1901. She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. •Robert Jones. At a very early age, she joined the Second Baptist Church, now First Cal vary Baptist Church. In the program of the Church, Mrs. Allen served as Bible School teacher. Young People’s leader. Advisor for Girl’s Mis sionary Circle and Counsellor for the Loyalty Boy’s Group. She was the "lirst.^resident of Missionary Circle^Tiupiber Two and a co-founder of the'E W. Wslkei^ Bible Class which WWtJrganized in March 1947. Surviving are her husband, Bumice Allen, Sr., a son. Bur- nice Jr., two sisters, Mrs. Rosa Mebane and Mrs. Josephine Johnson residing here; four brothers, W'illie and Charlie Jones of this City; Jesse Jones of Empire,, ,La.; and Robert Jones of Portsmouth, Ohio. Serving as pallbearers were David Young, J. D. Parker, Louis Laster, Dempsey Merritt, Madison McDonald and Alonzo Langley. Members of the Safety Club served as Honorary Pallbearers, The floral bearers were the E. W. Walker Bible ^lass. Missionary Circle Number Two and the Lyon Park Rose Garden Club. N. C.
