The sixty-second anniversary
of th« Calvary Baptist Church
was observed on last Sunday
and Monday. A conspicuous
figure was pastor emeritus, Dr7
G. W. Goode, who served the
church for over 56 years. The
anniversary sermon was de
livered by Rev. E. D. McCreary
Sr. pastor of the Ebenezer Bap
tist Church in Charlottesville,
Va., and father of the present
{wstor.
Mrs. Adaline R. Reynolds of
Atlantic City, N. J., the sole re
maining member of the forty
organizers was in attendance.
Hugo Grasty gave a vivid de
scription of the history of the
church'. Mrs. Carrie Coleman
sang. At the Vespers music was
furnished by the Camp Grove
Chorus and the Ebenezer Choir.
The church was organized on
December 9, 1892, on the pre
sent site. The first pastor was
the late Rev. A. S. Thomas. The

Its Board of Directors is Anglo-

Scripture is plain here for it
states that the man who pre
tends to love God and hates his
fellow man "is a liar and the
truth is not In him.”
Let us not forget this, and I
hope it will bring to those of us
claiming superiority a becom

worth and dignity in the eyes of
God; for indeed He is no Respec-
