Zion Church who attended the 13th quadrennial session of the Woman’s Home and Foreign Blissionary Society which met at First Church, Paloma and Pico Streets, Los Angeles, California, August 6-12. Delegates from all over the country and foreign fields are shown on the picture. The meeting was held to review the work as it affects the missionary department of the chiuch and to map a plan for the next four yean. It was definitely decided that an extensive program would be in augurated and that both the home and foreign work would be stepped up. The theme of the convention was built around the fact that the Missionary Department was organ ized 75 years ago. “Missionaries, Channak of Blessings. lota Phi Lamixia Sorority National Convention Comes To End DENVKR, COL. — Delegates from chapters throughout the coimtry convened In Denver, Colorado, August 13 throu 17 for the national convention of Iota Pbi-Xambda Sorority, with Alpha Omlcron and Beta Nu chapters as hostesses. The ses sions were held at the YWCA. The theme of the convention was “Leadership Development for Sconomlc Security.’’ To em phasize the theme at this 18th annual meeting, a workshop was conducted and a demonstration of business techniques and machine was given. _ The annual report of the na tional president, Soror Marion E. Jackin of Washington, D. C., was read at the first business session and was enthusiastically, received. The public educational meet ing was held at the Colorado Women’s College on Sunday. The address was given by E. Frederick Morrow, administra tive officer on the executive staff at the White House. Mr. Morrow was given a citation for outstanding achievement by the Sorority: Soror Emma Van Dyke Gilbert of Austin, Texas, re ceived a citation at Iota Out standing Business Woman for 19S8. Social courtesies were extend ed the viators by the Denver City Federation of Colored Wo men’s Club, Chi Phi Chapter, ' Omega Psi Phi Fatemlty and Theta Sorority. Wilsons Return To New York Mrs. John Owen Wilson and Miss Anna Belle Wilson of New York City, who have been the summer guests of Miss Janie Wilson, 614 Mas sey Avenue, for several weeks, ended their stay this week ¥^en they returned home. Davis of Hampton, now teaching at New York University, to her English fa culty. Dr. Davis, a Dartmouth graduate, who was Capt, Davis of the Adjutant General's Of fice, while here in Washing ton, worked for his master’s at Chicago University, and re ceived his Phd from New Yorlc University. He collaborated with Gay Wilson Allen on a volume on Walt Whitman, published by the New York University Press. He will live with his wife and two children, in a home on the Princeton campus. Dr. Davis’ fatlier is Hampton Bur sar Don A. Davis, and his uncle is Dr. Arthur Paul Davis of the English faculty at How ard University.
