Return From New York Mr. and Mrs. Herbert E. Tatum, Jr. - of E-3 Park Lane have returned home after vaca tioning in Baltimore, Maryland, Newark, New Jersey and New York City, visiting relatives and friends. Mark ham, Sr., and family of Bos ton, Mass., attended the family reunion of the Walden family, which took place at the spa cious home of one of the oldest members of the family, Mrs. Sallie Ann Eaton of Hender son, who was assisted by her niece, Mrs. McCarrol Alston and husband. Other relatives and friends numbered a hundred or more, came from all points of North Carolina, Virginia, Alabama, al so Cleveland, Ohio and Mil waukee, Wisconsin. Mrs. Virginia Pitchford of King Road has return to the city after a twelve day trip to the South Shores of Rhode Island. She visited Warwick, Crompton, Hope Valley, Artie, Providence, Rhode Island and New York City. Mrs. Herbert McKay of Dun- stan Street has" returned to the city after visiting Baltimore, Maryland where they attended the wedding of her nephew. She was accompanied by Mrs. Floyd McKinnie of Dunstan Street. Miss Helen Elizabeth Wilson Becomes Bride Of Silas A. James CONCORD, N. C. W'estmlnister Presbyterian Church, Concord, was the set ting on August 13 for the mar riage of Miss Helen Elizabeth Wilson to Silas Alfred James of Durham and Asheville. The bride is the daughter of the Reverend Doctor and Mrs. Hercules Wilson. Her husband Is the son of Dr. Sidney T. James, Sr., and the late Mrs. James of Durham. A., the bride wore a ball erina length gown of imported lace and nylon tulle over taffeta made with a fitted bodice finish ed with an off-the-shoulder neckline with short sleeves. She wore a finger-tip length veil of illusion attached to a cap of Chantilly lace embroidered with pearls, and carried a white lace- covered Bible posed with a white purple throated orchid. Mrs. James Edward Wlson of Henderson, was the matron of honor for her sister-in-law. She wore a ballerina length gown of blue Chantilly lace trimmed- with rhinestones. She wore a hat of blue lace and carried a bouquet of pink tiger lillies. Robert C. Yancey of New port News, Va., served* as best man for his brother-in-law. The ushers were James E. Wilson, brother of the bride, H. W. Leake of Savannah, Georgia, cousin of the bride, H. A. Hudson of Dur ham, and Earl Whitmire of Con cord. She is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, The American Associa tion of Medical Social Workers, The League of Women Voters, the Board of Directors of the AshevUle and Buncombe Coun ty Mental Hygiene Clinic, and is active in many civic and social groups in AshevUle. M. at the home of the bride’s parents, 1413 South Alston Ave nue. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Melvin I^each and Mr. Fikes is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Willie Fikes.‘Sr. Rev. S. P. Ferry, pastor of the couple, performed the ecremony following a program oi nuptial music rendered by Miss Goldie Herndon and Mrs. Nell C. Jones. Rev. Perry was assisted by Rev. Wilcox of Mt. Vernon, New York. Given m marriage by her father, the bride was attired in a ballerina length white lace dress over taffeta with white ac cessories. She carried a white prayer book covered with baby’s breath and carnations. Her only attendant was Miss Jackie Justice, maid of honor, who wore a pink nylon dress with white accessories. Kenneth Fikes, brother of the groom, was best man. For her daughter’s wedding, Mrs. Leach chose a blue lace street length dress and wore a white carnation. Mrs. Fikes dress was a flowered voUe. She also wore a white carnation. Immediately following the ceremony, the bride’s parents entertained at a reception. Miss Leila Williams presided in the gift room and Mrs. Ethel Wil liams presided over the punch bowl. Out-of-town guests attending the weeding were Mrs. Rether Thomas, grandmother of the bride, Mrs. Callle M. Smith, Mr. and Mrs. James Thomas of Oil- lion.
