C. was recently the recipient of a« “Honorary Lifetime Member ship" from the Mound City Press Club, St. Louis, Mo. Above Mr. Kendrix is flanked by Otis N. Thompson, Jr. retir ing president and former asso ciate editor of tile St. Louis Ar gus, Attorney Frankie Fr.-^man, past honoree of the press club, Jennie Barnes, and Bennie Rogers, incoming club presi dent. Mr. Kendrix installed the 1958 officers for the club during the organization's annxial ban quet and later entertained the newly elected officers and their friends at a reception. Mr. Thompson is an associate in the Kendrix firm. Officers Elected, Program Mapped By Chatham County 4-H Council PITTSBORO Officers were elected for the Chatham 4-H Council at a meet ing of the organization here on Wednesday, Feb. 8. Elected were Sonja Alston, president; Wayman Womble, vice-president; Christine P^e, secretary; Shirley Paige, assis tant secretary; Dorothy Wom ble, treasurer; Guytanna Hor ton, historian; Shirley Siler, song leader; Alphonse Chavis, reporter; Bertha Thompson, re creational leader; and Margaret Alston, Virginia Chavis and Francine Lee. program commit teemen. Plans were also made at the meeting for spring activities, among which will be an obser vance on national 4-H week, a team demonstration contest, a judging contest, potato show, dress revue, county 4-H day camp and 4-H Sunday. Some 75 officers and leaders in 4-^ work in the area attend ed the meeting. Burch Makes 77fh Birthday Arthur Burch, well-known citizen of 1214 Merrick Street, celebrated his 77th birthday Saturday, ■ February 11. Mr. Burth has recently been ill, but is now recuperating at his home. For his birthday he received many gifts. Among them were presents from Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Please take notice that: Whereas, the City of Durham has in the recent past extended the corporation limits of the City of Durham to include addi tional areks, and in order to have precincts conform to the extended city boundaries, it lias been duly enacted by Uie Board of Elections that each of the following specified areas shall be attached to and become a part of the precinct indicated; HILLSIDE PARK HIGH SCHOOL PRECINCT: That the area between the southern boundary line and the newly established limits east of South Street and west of Otis Street shall become a part of the Hillside Park High School Pre cinct. FOREST HILLS PRECINCT: That portion ot the new city limits lying South of the old city limits, beginning at Arriug- ton Street and Cole Road, and extending southwardly to the new city limits including all the area within the Amoldo De velopment, with the area attach ed near thereto, lying east and west of Stuart Drive and south of Woodridge Drive; becoming part of the Forest Hills Precinct and the polling place will be the Forest -Hills Club House as now established. The polling place will be Hillandale Club House on Club Boulevard as now established. WATTS STREET SCHOOL PRECINCT: All that area north of the old city limits and south of the city limits lying south of Ellerbee Creek; west of Maryland Ave nue extending to a line east of Forest Road as now established; becoming a part of Watts Street School Frecmct. The polling place will be Watts Street School as now established. WATTci STRUET SCHOOL PRECINCT: Ail that area north of the old city limits and south of the new city limits, to-wit: Newton Road and extending eastwardly to Leon Street; obecming a part of Watts Street School Precinct and the polling place will be Watts Street School as now es tablished. HOLLOWAY STREET SCHOOL PRECINCT: That portion of the area be tween the present city limits and the new city limits lying north of Hardee Street and south of line projected from Fairfax R6ad extended to and including Wallons Village; also all that area on the east side of Hardee Street now within the new oity limits; becoming a part of Holloway Street School Precinct and the polling place will be the Holloway Street School as established. BURTON SCHOOL PRE- , CINCT: All that area south of the old city limits and north of the new city limits bounded by a line west of Ridgeway Avenue and east of Plum Street, being a part of the College View Develop ment, the same to become a part of the Burton School Precinct and the polling place will be Burton School as now establish ed.
