ware, professor of Mathematics
at North Carolina College. He
was presented to the group by
Thomas Clements.
The meeting was brought to a
close after a serial period dur
ing which refreshments were

Hi^^lights of the evening was
a Travelogue and color films by
Asa T. Spaulding, vice president
of the North Carolina Mutual
Life Insurance Company, who
was a member of the United
States Delegation to the inaugu
ral ceremonies in Liberia. Mr.
Spaulding’s Travelouge and
films were both interesting and
enjoyable. At the close, the la
dies had a good time asking
questions which Mr. Spaulding
answered obligingly.

meeting, minutes of the previ
ous meeting were read by the
secretary and reports from dif
ferent members were given in
trying to cheer the sick and shut
ins, by visits, sending cards and
in many other ways. This wafe

ents were discovered and a-good
time was had by all. Mrs. Le

The Eastern Region of the
Zeta Phi Beta Sorority which
convenes on April 16, 1956 to
spend^the major portion of three
days on the setting up of next-
steps in the development of the
theme, “Zeta Looks Toward the
Future in a C]ianging Society”.
Workshop sessions have been

Miss Peyton has received wide
recognition as a civic, social,
educational and religious leader.
Her outstanding contributions to
the sorority have, been many "but
her sincere interest in and high
inspirations for young people
single her out as a real torch
bearer of the watch world of
the sorority, "Finer Woman
hood”. Miss Peyton is one of the
sorority’s first life members so

given places of special honor at
the banquet.

her discourse she brought pre
requisites for being near the
cross of “Jesus'Christ, "Who siif-

The West Durham Communl-
ty Club met Sunday afternoon,
March 11, at the home of Mrs.
Mary Roberson on Powe Street.
The meeting was presided over
by the president, Mrs. C, Evans,
and after a short devotional

will begin at 10:30.
The banquet is a new fea
ture of Alpha Conventions,
which will highlight the role
women play in the affairs of
Greek letter organizations. Fol
