Returns From Vacation Little Miss Regenia George, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. C. George of Dupree Street has re turned home after a very plea sant vacation in Los Angeles, California. Mrs. Jessie Denkins, formerly of this city, is visiting her mo ther, Mrs. George Hatcher of Dawn Street. To Mrs. Doris Holloway Mack, has returned to her home In Hyde Park, N. Y., after having spent an enjoyable vacation with her parents, Mr. and Mr*. John L. Holloway, of Elizabeth St. Mrs. Mack’s many friends here added much pleasure to her visit. Attend Convention Dr. and Mrs. A. S. Hunter left Monday lo Hampton, Va., where they will attend the Na tional Dental Convention. Mr. and Mrs. Archie Vann of Charleston, S. C., former stu dents of the N. C. College, Dur ham, are the proud parents of a baby girl-Annette, Mrs. Vann is the former Miss Carmen La Brilla. Returns To Baltimore Mr. and Mrs. C. M. Palmer of Whitted St. had as their guest the past two weeks, Mrs. Pal mer’s dfter, Mrs. Carrie Hill of Baltimore, Md. Ruth Edwards reports a very pleasant and successful summer session at Orangeburg, S. C., where she was a staff member at the South Carolina State College. Home Again Mrs. Julia Harris has return ed to her home on Lawson St., from Richmond and other points in Virginia where she visited relatives and friends. In Emporia, she attended a wedding of a cousin. Mrs. Harris reports a very pleasant vacation. Attend Wedding Mr. and Mrs. Edward Boyd, Sr., of Oxford, spent the week end in the city with their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Boyd, Jr. of Plum Street. They attended the wed ding of their son Harold Kent, to Miss Sara Louise McNeil. Happy Vacation Mrs. Verdelle Johnston, her two daughters, Doris and Lau retta and a little friend, Cecelia Wiggs, have returned home from Charleston, S. C., where they visited Mrs. Johnston’s parents, the Rev. and Mrs. J. B. Jennings. The highlight of the visit was a beach party given in honor of the three little Misses at the Riverside Beach. C. Graham of Ro wan Street. While here Mr. Bar bee attended summer school at North Carolina College. Azalea Garden Club On Sunday July 22, the Azalea G^fden C^ub met with Mrs. Cotton at the home of Mrs. Alice Pajrne, Hillsboro. Mrs. Minnie Cromartie open ed the garden gate by reading the thought for the day from the secret place. Her topic was •aow food aeeda." Mrs. Cotton presided over the brief business session. The fun damentals of the organization of a garden club was discussed. During the social hour, club members and guests were ser ved in grand style a delicious repast on Mrs. Payne’s flower bedecked spacious lawn. Fol lowing this, the group enjoyed the showing of slides which were made on the tour to points in Pennsylvania, New York and Canada, sponsored by the Lens and Shutter Club of the YWCA. Baptist Woman’s Day ConTentkm The annual Woman’s Baptist Home and Foreign Missionary Convention of North Carolina will be held at the Mount 'Ver non Baptist Church, Pine Street, August 14 tlirou^ 17.
