Whiteviile's High School NFA
Host loieadership Session
The local chapter of the NFA
was host to eighty NFA boys,
who attended the New Farmers
of America Leadership School
and Conference of the R. R.
Taylor Federation held at Cen
tral on December 12. Five
counties were represented. A
welcome was extended to the
visitors by H. E. Brown, Princi
pal at Central.

Agriculture conducted the Lea-
dersliip Training section of the
meeting. During his discussion,
he pointed out some of the
necessary qualifications of a
leader.

CHOIR AT ARTESIA
The Music Department of
Central appeared in a guest re
cital at the Artesia School,
Hallsboro, Nortth Carolina on
December 4.
Central’s Choral group was
guest of the music department
at that school. They presented
a thirty minute program-sing
ing such songs as; ROCK-Mah-
SOUL, SET DOWN SERVANT,
HOLY LORD GOD, ADORA
MUS TE, BLESS THIS HOUSE.
The 40 member choir is under
the direction of Mrs. Dorothy
Starr Johnson.

The Basketball season was
ushered in here on December 6,
when the Hornet teams of Cen
tral met one of their old arch
rivals, the Panthers of Artesia.
One of the biggest crowds in
the history of the school was on
hand to witness both teams via
fo r a win.
The starting line-up for the
Central Girls’ team were
guards: Ceatrice Hill, Juanita
Shirden, Laveme Lawrence;
forwards: Sarah Betts, Lucille
Threadgill, Adgelene Lawrence.
When the writer interviewed
head coach, Louise P. Turner
about her observation of the
game between the Homettes
and Panthers, she stated that
“she thought lx)th teams fought
hard and exhibited a lot of
drive.” She felt also that the
teams were evenly matched
