Whiskey Making Firm Sponsors Nationwide Plea For Moderation NEW YORK A powerful plea for modera tion during one of the most hazardous times for driving— the New Year’s Eve holiday— will be widely published by The House of Seagram during the final JtiSurs of 1956. The mes sage—the latest in Seagram’s twenty-second consecutive year of moderation advertising—sug gests that “Tonight when it’s ‘One for the Road’ be sure it’s coffee.” This message was first pub lished by Seagram in a year- end moderation statement pre ceding the new year 1934. George E. Mosley, vice presi dent in charge of advertising and sales promotion, Seagram Distillers Company, notes that there has been widespread en dorsement on the part of many groups and individuals from all walks of life for Seagram’s ef forts to promote public safety. The message is published by The House of Seagram together with the entire membership of the National Licensed Beverage Association, representing some SO thousand bar and tavern; owners and operators in Ah merica, and the National Retail Uquor Stores Association, with thousand package store owners. The 1000 and 1750 line ads will appear in 84 newspapers in 68 leading markets, with a combin- •4 circulation of 20 million. publication of the mode ration message is further imple- menteif by the distribution oil coffee to bars and taverns throughout the country by Sea gram wholesalers. The licensees Will provide this coffee without charge to consumers when it’s time for the “one for the road “It is Seagram’s hope,” Mos ley says, “that the annual pub lication of this message will have a cumulatively important effect in furthering the cause of moderation.” Winston-Salem Artists Placed On Display Paintings of several local ar tist were placed on exhibit last week at the East Winston Branch Public Library, Mrs. L.
