Mrs. Hapsy Galloway conducted the devotionals. President Gladys McKinnie presided over the business session. Following a brief business session, the social hour lollowed where refresh ments were served. Members present were Mes- dames Hapsy Galloway, Alease McKinnie, Gladys McKinnie and Mable Powell. The group will meet next with Mrs. Iris Lawrence on Fayetteville Rd. On Sunday afternoon. May 23, Mrs, Virginia Pitchford en tertained members of the A&B Missionary Circle at her home on Fayetteville Rd. The devo tional period was conducted by Mrs. Carrie Saunders. Presi dent Lillian McKay presided over the business session. Following the business delib erations, the group enjoyed a barbecue dinner, with all the trimmings, held on the lawn. Mrs. Pitchford’s guests were Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Lyons, Mr. and Mrs. Leo Lyons and daugh ter, Mrs. Annie Mitchell, Mrs. Lula Mae Ruyal and Marie Pen- ny. Members present were Misses Leuna Dulsun and Mury Alston; Mesdames Carrie Saunders, Lil lian McKay, Lucille Starlcs, Gladys McKinney, Mary Hayes, Magdalene Llewellyn, Hapsy Galloway, Martha Armstrong and Mrs. Mable Powell. Mrs. Powell thanked the hostess for her hospitality. The group ad journed to meet next with Mrs. Elveta Monroe on Cornwallis Rd. Mrs. Lillian, McKay enter tained members of the A&B Missionary Circle on Monday, May 27th, in the Basement Chapel of Kyles Temple Church. The devotions were conducted by Mrs. Carrie Saun ders, which was followed by the business seMion. Alter the business session, the hostess took charge. She served a chick en dinner with home-made ice cream and c^ke. Assisting the hostess were Miss Leora Dolson, Miss Mary Alston, and Mrs. Virginia Pitchford. Memberii present were Mes dames Alease McKinnie, Mar tha Armstrong, Jeanette Caple, Elveta Monroe, Gladys McI^in- nie, Labertha Buie, Lucille Starks, Hapsy Galloway, Mary Taylor, Cora Byrdine, Magda lene Llewellyn, Queen Ester Toon, Mary Hayes, and Mable Powell. The members were hap py to receive a new member, Mrs. Onna Rogers. The group adjourned to meet next with Mrs. Mable Powell. The K.T.A. Social Club, a new ly organized club of Kyles Tem ple Church, will observe Fa thers Day ceremonies at Kyles Temple Church on June 16th at the 11:00 A.M. service. Rev George Tharrington, pastor, will deliver the Fathers Day message. The members are sponsoring five fathers of the church. They are E. D. Barnes, George Elliott, Walter McKinnie, Galthan Gal loway and George Bass. The father raising the highest sum of money will be (^uwned and named the “Father of the Year." Gifts will also be award ed each father. Following ceremonies at 0:00 P.M.. the fathers and friends will be honored at a barbecue- chicken dinner at the country home of Mr. and Mrs. Walter McKinnie located on Fayette ville Rd. Provisions have been made for games and fishing. “Scouting At St. Mark" Mrs. Endell Stewart was host ess to the Girl Scout Troop 123 of St. Mark A.M.E. ^ion Church last Thursday evening at Camp Scarborough. Each girl was giv en a task by Mrs. Stewart, some cooking and cleaning. The girls cooking prepared hot dogs, lem onade, donuts and roasted marshmallows for the group. Games, coloring and dancing were also enjoyed by the group. The girls attending were Ma rion and Luevia Gibson, Shir ley Mae Malette, Margaret Roy aler, Alma and Carolyn Turner, Shirley Craig, Betty McAllister, Geraldine Keith, Eddie Mae Reeves, Patrica McCrae, Cyn thia Ann Williams, Cassandra Wallace and Joyce Perry. RF.GESTER, HOSTESS TO THE AZALEA GARDEN CLUB On Monday, May 26, Mrs Thomasine Regester feted the Azalea Garden Club at her home on Graham Street, Chapel Hill. The Garden Gate was opened by Mrs. Gladys McNeil, who read the thought for the day from the Secret Place, "Build ing With Our Hands.” In re sponse to her request, several club members gave verses on flowers. Mrs. Eflie Cotton, the presi dent, presided over the busl ness session. The Sunday serv ice held the day before was dis cussed and also matters pertain ing to the state convention Mrs. Virgle Davis and Mrs. Gladys MrNell were elected to represent the club at the con vention. Mrs. Rcgester’s guests were introduced and made encourag ing remarks. Mrs. Regester served her guests and club members a very nice repast. Mrs. Herrod closed the gar den gate by expressing the club’s deep appreciation to Mrs. Regester for her hospitality. McLester, presided over the business session, after which the Installation of offi cers was given by Mrs. Elnora Smith of the Lyon Park Rose Garden Club. Mrs. Helen M. McClain was also present from the Lyon Park Rose Garden Club. Every individual Is WILLIE LEE BOLAND Funeral services for Willie Lee Roland, age 77, were held at the Rock Spring Baptist Church, Granville County, Sun day, June 9. The officiating minister was the Rev. J. H. Pep pers, pastor of the St. Paul Bap tist Church. Mr. Roland, a native of Gran ville County, died at his resi dence, 10 Adams Court, Friday, June 7, after an illness of two months. Interment was in the church cemetery. He is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Anne Page and Mrs. Virginia Pettiway, of the home, and Mrs. Idonin Cousins of Aberdeen, Md. MBS. EUGENIA BUCHANAN Mrs. Eugenia Buchanan, 1117 Williard Street, died at her resi dence, Sunday, June 9, after an illness of four months.
