Thirteenth Season Expected To Be
Riddick's Best At N. C. College
- The number “13” may prove
an omen of real good luck to
North Carolina College football
coach, Herman H. Riddick.
Thii is the Eagles’ mentor
13th year at his own alma mater
where he was a standout end in
the 1930's under the late Coach
Leo Townsend.
After a sensational career at
Durham's Hillside High School,
Riddick entered the college
ranks in 1945.
In the past 12 years he’s done
lor the NCC gridders what no
other man ever did: he’s
brought two outright champion
ships, one tied, and, for the
whole truth, another champion
ship that was nullified because
of the use of an ineligible play->
er.

season, he has the advantage of proud, of course. However, our
a big salary raise and, according primary emphasis is^ upon the

Ironically, for a min who
produces championship teams
and who has received severtl
honoi^ as “Coach of the Year”,
Riddick is under no administra
tive pressure to produce cham
pionship clubs for the Eagles
total personality.”
Like other teachers at NCC,
Riddick received a nine percent
salary increase on the first of
the month. And, he was also
given faculty status. This last
_ step seems to mean his future
first concern is t^'de- is secure, either as foot
velop a good, first rate college ^"“ch or as teachef of bi-
