Others, however, denied the charges, he said, so the Com mission was established to get at the truth and suggest changes in the laws. Gandy, dean ot the chapel of Dillard University here, said upon his return from a tour of 16 countries of Europe and the Middle East that Christi anity appeared more vital to the lives of the people of the Soviet Union than in any other country he visited. The university chaplain was one of five clergymen who made an on-the-spot survey of the status of religion on both sides of the iron curtain.
